Assistant Superintendent

The Meadows at Middlesex County is an 18-hole public course designed by Tom Fazio in 1980, hosting approximately 28,000 rounds annually. Owned by Middlesex County and Managed by Troon.

Job Summary

Meadows at Middlesex seeks a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to maintain and improve golf playability. The assistant Superintendent will report directly to the Golf Course Superintendent. This job is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow within the industry. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of golf course maintenance including daily maintenance as well as construction projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists the Superintendent in staff management, capital project management, contractor coordination, and purchasing supplies, tools, and chemicals.
• Performs hands-on management of golf course maintenance staff, scouting turf pest, and disease pressures, irrigation repairs and improvements, and operating equipment.
• Plan and delegate direction to the grounds staff in the absence of the Superintendent.
• Enforce a safe work environment through regular equipment training.
• Support the planning and execution of course improvement projects including irrigation upgrades and tree removable utilizing both in-house staff and with outside contractors.
• Implement and oversee all fertilizer and pesticide applications.

Educational Requirements

• Turfgrass Degree or Certificate preferred.

Experience Requirements

• 3 + years of work experience on a golf course preferred.

Special Requirements

• Must be able to acquire a New Jersey Pesticide Applicator License.

Pay

• $25.00 per hour plus overtime
