Position Overview

The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for the production, validation, and ongoing improvement of the company’s monthly financial reporting. Reporting to the CFO, this role combines accounting knowledge, ERP data expertise, SQL querying, Power BI development, and advanced Excel skills to produce accurate, timely, and decision-useful financial statements and management reports.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently in a complex reporting environment, tracing data from source systems through queries, data models, and reports, and resolving discrepancies between reported results and the general ledger. This person will bring structure, documentation, and repeatability to existing reporting processes while partnering with Accounting, IT, and business leaders as needed.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm and a hybrid working arrangement will be considered for an exceptionally qualified candidate.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Own the monthly financial reporting process, including preparation of the income statement, balance sheet, supporting schedules, and management reporting package.
  • Reconcile reported financial results to the general ledger and other authoritative source records; investigate, explain, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with Accounting during month-end close to confirm completeness, accuracy, and consistency of reported results.
  • Establish and maintain clear definitions, reconciliations, documentation, and controls for recurring financial reports.

Data, Systems, and Reporting Development

  • Use Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) to understand and retrieve relevant financial and operational data. We have a strong business systems team to partner with in performing this role.
  • Write, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL queries that combine data from multiple tables and sources; validate query logic, joins, filters, calculations, and results.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot Power BI data models, dashboards, and reports.
  • Investigate legacy reporting logic and undocumented calculations.
  • Reduce reliance on manual processes by creating repeatable, supportable reporting solutions.
  • Use advanced Excel, including PivotTables, formulas, and data validation, where appropriate for analysis and reconciliation.

Analysis and Business Support

  • Analyze monthly results, trends, and key performance indicators; explain material variances and identify risks, opportunities, and unusual activity.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling, including revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, cash flow, headcount, capital investment, and other relevant business drivers.
  • Develop and improve profitability analysis by customer, product, supplier, location, business unit, or other dimensions relevant to management.
  • Prepare clear reporting and analysis for the CFO, leadership team, and board materials, explaining key results and the basis for reported metrics.
  • Work with business leaders to clarify reporting needs and translate them into accurate, useful financial and operational information.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and recurring management reports using Power BI and other reporting tools.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required; four or more years of relevant financial reporting, accounting, or business intelligence experience, preferably at the senior analyst or manager level.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Epicor Prophet 21 (P21); ability to navigate its data structure and understand how ERP data supports financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard development, data visualization, and report maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, including the ability to query, combine, validate, and analyze data from multiple sources.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, lookups, and financial model development.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-financial audiences and work as a team player.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
  • Strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and a continuous-improvement mindset.
  • Must be able to pass a background screen that includes a credit check component.
