Forward Deployed Engineer (New York)

Location: New York, NY (in office 3+ days per week, 4 preferred; 2-3 days per week travel to East Coast portfolio companies)
Compensation: $185,000 - $240,000 + competitive equity

The client is a new kind of software holding company that buys, builds, grows and holds great vertical market software businesses. The team are technology entrepreneurs, not a financial firm.
Founded in 2024, Beacon has raised $250M and has about 85 people.
The Role
Beacon is hiring Forward Deployed Engineers (3-6 years) to embed with its portfolio companies, ship agentic software into live operations and own the outcomes end to end. This is a Palantir-style role: you build running systems that compound across an entire portfolio.
What You Will Do
- Embed with portfolio companies, earn operator trust and find the highest-leverage workflows for agentic software.
- Build integrations, prompts, evals and UI to land the first agentic loop at each company.
- Operate and tune deployed systems after launch and hand off cleanly once stable.
- Act as the technical face of Beacon to portfolio company leaders.
- Codify learnings into reusable playbooks for future deployments.
What You Bring
- 3-6 years of full-stack, customer-facing software engineering or forward deployed engineering
- TypeScript or Python backend, React frontend and SQL, with solo end-to-end delivery
- Shipped production LLM or agentic software with evals and outcome tracking
- Operator instincts and the ability to earn non-technical stakeholder trust
Nice to Have
- Snowflake, Databricks or Apache Iceberg
- Vertical software experience
