Original job description

Description The Opportunity You might think printing is a business of the past - but let us help you understand why it is a platform for the future. We dominate our market segment and are highly profitable, enabling us to focus on growing our business in new and unique ways. At TPI, printing is the visible output of a business powered by data, technology, and people. We have built a strong position serving the casino industry through data-driven marketing and variable-data production, and as a trusted partner to more than 300 casinos, we help connect more than 10 million Casino players nationwide each month. Behind every one of those connections is a technology environment that must be secure, fast, and ready every single day. We are looking for a Systems Administrator who wants to be the person who helps keep that engine running. This is an opportunity to do more than maintain servers. You will own the systems that our teams and customers rely on, sharpen how we run them, and help our Support Desk grow stronger along the way. You will be a go-to technical expert in a collaborative IT team where your work is noticed, your judgment is trusted, and your ideas are welcome. TPI is also an employee-owned company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). That gives this work added meaning: the systems you keep secure and running help our teams do their best work and help build long-term value for the employees who own the company. When we grow, you grow - because our people truly make the difference. We use the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to align priorities, strengthen accountability, and turn plans into action. You will always know what matters most and how your work connects to it. We need a Systems Administrator who can protect what makes TPI run well today - and help us build what will make it even stronger tomorrow.

Your Mandate Keep It Secure. Keep It Running. Make It Better. Our customers depend on us to deliver reliably, and our employees depend on systems that simply work. Secure, well-maintained infrastructure is essential to that trust. Keeping it that way is a nonnegotiable part of this role - but it is not the limit of the role. Your mandate is to be the steady hand behind TPI’s servers, operating systems, and Line of Business Applications - keeping them secure, cost-effective, and performing at their best while providing real value to our customers. You will manage our physical and virtual server environment, Active Directory and Entra, and our hybrid Office 365 mail services, while working side by side with our Support Technicians to troubleshoot and resolve issues reported to the Helpdesk.

Requirements

What You Will Do Servers that just work. Manage, maintain, upgrade, and patch our physical and virtual servers, operating systems, and Line of Business Applications, so the people who depend on them can focus on their own work. Problems solved before anyone notices. Monitor system performance and resource utilization to spot trends and head off performance issues before they reach the business. A trusted partner to the Support Desk. Provide technical support and assistance to our Support Technicians, help troubleshoot and resolve issues reported to the Helpdesk, and mentor the team as you go. Security and compliance you can stand behind. Follow and enforce server and share access policies, helping protect the systems and data that our customers and colleagues trust us with. Identity and email done right. Administer Active Directory and Entra, and manage and maintain both on-premise and Office 365 mail services in our hybrid environment. Documentation that makes the team stronger. Maintain configuration documentation, procedures, and best practices so knowledge is shared, repeatable, and never locked in one person’s head.

Your Partnership with the Support Desk The Support Desk is on the front line with our employees every day, and the Systems Administrator is its strongest ally. You will be the person Support Technicians turn to when an issue goes deeper than the ticket - and the person who helps them learn how to solve it next time. The expectation is a productive partnership built on clear communication, shared knowledge, and mutual respect.

What Success Looks Like Success will be visible in both the reliability of today’s systems and the strength of the team around them:

  • Dependable systems: Servers, applications, and mail services that are patched, current, and performing - with issues caught early.
  • Secure, well-governed access: Server and share access policies that are understood, followed, and consistently enforced.
  • A stronger Support Desk: Escalated issues resolved quickly, and growing skills across the team through mentorship.
  • Knowledge that lasts: Clear, current documentation of configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Confidence in IT: Colleagues across TPI see technology as a responsive, reliable partner in getting their work done.

The Systems Administrator We Are Looking For You are a dependable, detail-oriented technologist who is just as comfortable digging into a server issue as you are helping a colleague work through a tough support ticket. You stay steady when priorities shift, communicate clearly, and take pride in getting things right. You know that great systems administration requires more than technical skill. It requires organization, judgment, good communication, and a willingness to teach others.

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Solid Windows Server experience, typically 5+ years of Windows Server Administration and Active Directory administration.
  • Apple Mac administration experience, which is required for this role.
  • A strong IT foundation, such as an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail, with strong project coordination skills and a real focus on quality.
  • Grace under pressure, with the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining high efficiency, manage multiple tasks at once, and adjust as priorities change.
  • A team-player mindset, with excellent communication skills and a desire to mentor Support Desk colleagues.

Experience with VMware virtualization is preferred.

Location and Working Expectations This is a full-time, hybrid position based at TPI in Des Moines, Iowa, with a minimum of three days per week in the office. Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or about 40 hours per week, though the schedule varies and flexibility is needed for evenings and weekends when the work calls for it. This role participates in an after-hours on-call rotation.

Some travel may be required to assist off-site employees and with projects at other TPI offices.

Physical requirements include frequent sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day, with occasional bending or squatting to work on equipment and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. The role also involves continuous vision for detailed work and frequent hand, wrist, and finger movement for computer use.

This description outlines the primary responsibilities of the position and is not a comprehensive listing of all duties. Duties and responsibilities may evolve with the needs of the business.

The opportunity is to help an already successful company run more securely, smoothly, and reliably - and to do it alongside the employees who own it.

TPI is 100% Employee-Owned (ESOP). When we grow, you grow - because our people truly make the difference.
