Original job description
Investment Reporting Specialist The Investment Reporting Specialist resides within the Retirement Products organization and supports the Strategic Annuity Product Management team. This individual drives the analytical and reporting capabilities used to evaluate annuity product performance, competitive positioning, and market dynamics - independently producing structured data outputs and reports that directly inform product strategy, development, and distribution decisions. The role partners closely with Asset Management, Distribution, Marketing, Finance, Actuarial, and Technology teams, often serving as the primary point of contact for reporting and competitive intelligence matters, to deliver timely, accurate intelligence that drives retention, growth, and product innovation across TIAA's annuity product portfolio.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Owns the end-to-end production of standardized and ad-hoc competitive intelligence reports, product performance summaries, and client-facing materials for Distribution partners, Product Managers, and governance forums, exercising judgment on content, framing, and prioritization with minimal oversight.
- Independently sources, organizes, and validates data from internal and external providers (e.g., Morningstar Direct, Broadridge, LIMRA), establishing quality-control practices that other team members rely on.
- Owns recurring reporting deliverables, dashboards, and data repositories end-to-end - determining structure, cadence, and continuous improvements to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across all outputs.
- Leads the maintenance and evolution of a structured competitive database, proactively identifying competitor product launches, pricing changes, and feature updates, and translating findings into actionable insight for the broader team.
- Leads the production of RFP responses and sales enablement materials specific to TIAA's annuity product suite, coordinating inputs across stakeholders and ensuring consistency of messaging.
- Independently manages complex analytical projects and workstreams, exercising autonomy on less clearly defined problems, and resolving issues through data analysis with limited need for day-to-day management.
- Analyzes and synthesizes market trends, competitive intelligence, and product performance data, offering recommendations that directly influence annuity product development, pricing strategy, and marketing decisions.
- Serves as a resource and informal mentor to junior team members on reporting methodology, tools, and best practices, while leveraging AI tools and automation platforms to streamline data collection, report generation, and workflow efficiency across the team.
