Job Description
Principal Platform Engineer at Threatmodeler Software Inc. (Jersey City, NJ)
Duties: Architect, deploy, and maintain ThreatModeler’s infrastructure using AWS CloudFormation, EC2, and RDS for SQL Server 2019 and 2022. Design, package, and deliver ThreatModeler software for on-premises customers using Shell scripts, CloudFormation, and Amazon Machine Images (AMIs). Automate and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket, Bitbucket Pipelines, AWS CodeDeploy, and IAM, supporting multiple environments (Development, Test, Staging, Production). Manage patching, compliance, and monitoring using AWS Quick Setup, Patch Manager, AWS Systems Manager, AWS Inspector, and AWS Security Hub to ensure platform security and compliance. Build, maintain, and deploy containerized workloads using Docker and AWS ECS. Lead and coordinate major software releases for both SaaS and on-premises platforms, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent deployment quality. Develop and maintain CloudOps documentation and platform runbooks to strengthen internal knowledge sharing and operational transparency. Establish and evolve best practices to enhance deployment speed, infrastructure resilience, and software reliability. Support and integrate third-party DevOps tools and platforms such as AWS, Azure, Jenkins, Terraform Enterprise, JIRA, GitLab, GitHub, Azure Pipelines, and Azure Boards. Develop and maintain internal customer success tools using AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and API Gateway, ensuring seamless support operations. Integrate and maintain connectivity with ChurnZero and other customer engagement systems. Define and implement deployment standards for both cloud and on-prem environments through AMI packaging, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices. Plan and execute annual disaster recovery testing to validate data protection, availability, and recovery readiness.
Requirements: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field or foreign equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Platform Engineering, or a related occupation. Experience must include: managing Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022 deployments within AWS RDS environments; deploying containerized applications in production; driving automation and release management for complex software systems; utilizing tools such as: AWS services, including EC2, RDS, ECS, Systems Manager, CloudFormation, CodeDeploy, Inspector, Security Hub; CI/CD pipelines and tooling such as Bitbucket and Jenkins; Shell and python. Telecommuting permitted two (2) days per week within normal commuting distance.
Salary: $165,589 t0 $177,000 / Year
