Construction Safety Manager

The Will Group | Chicago, IL

Salary: $130,000–$140,000 annually

Build a Safer Tomorrow. Lead with Confidence.

At The Will Group, safety isn't just a requirement - it's a responsibility we take seriously. We are looking for an experienced Construction Safety Manager to lead job-site safety initiatives, promote OSHA compliance, and help create a culture where every team member and project partner goes home safely.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on safety professional who enjoys being in the field, working alongside construction leadership, identifying risks before they become problems, and making a meaningful impact across active construction projects.

What You'll Do

As our Construction Safety Manager, you will oversee and strengthen safety practices throughout all phases of construction, from preconstruction planning through project closeout.

Your responsibilities will include:

Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety plans in accordance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and applicable local safety codes.
Conduct regular job-site inspections and safety audits to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
Lead site safety orientations and deliver ongoing safety training for employees and subcontractors.
Investigate incidents and near-misses, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
Monitor subcontractor compliance with established safety protocols and conduct weekly safety meetings and toolbox talks.
Partner with superintendents and project leadership to proactively identify and address potential safety concerns.
Maintain accurate safety documentation, reports, and incident tracking.
Serve as the primary on-site safety resource, providing guidance and reinforcing safe work practices.
Support safety initiatives throughout preconstruction, project execution, and closeout.
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce risk, and strengthen overall project performance.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a confident, approachable safety leader who can influence behavior, communicate effectively, and hold people accountable while building positive working relationships across the job site.

Required Qualifications:

3–7 years of construction safety experience in commercial, industrial, or heavy civil construction.
Strong knowledge of OSHA 1926 regulations, construction safety standards, and risk management practices.
OSHA 30 certification required.
Experience conducting incident investigations, reporting, and root cause analysis.
Experience developing and delivering safety training programs.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence safe behaviors across all levels of a project.
Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure or emergency situations.
Proficiency with safety reporting tools and incident tracking systems.
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
Valid driver's license and willingness to occasionally travel to job sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

CHST, CSP, or equivalent safety certification.
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual Salary: $130,000–$140,000

The Will Group offers a competitive benefits package, including:

Life Insurance
401(k) with Company Match
Generous Paid Time Off
Paid Volunteer Time Off
10 Paid Holidays
Continuing Education Reimbursement
And much more!
