Original job description

RF TEST AUTOMATION ENGINEER - REDMOND, WA

This role will be focused on building and maintaining the automation that turns validated RF tests into reliable nightly runs. You'll need good-to-strong RF knowledge to understand what the tests measure and to debug failures at the bench.

What You'll Bring

  • 4+ years of industry experience in professional Python development, ideally test automation or test infrastructure
  • Strong software practices: Git, code review, modular design, maintainable test code
  • Experience automating hardware tests and controlling lab instruments from code
  • Good working knowledge of RF and OFDM radios, and what EIRP, EVM, SNR, RSSI, and BER measure
  • Hands-on use of spectrum analyzers and signal generators
  • Jira
  • Comfortable working in a lab alongside hardware

Bonus Experience

  • CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins
  • Large-scale or chamber-based test automation
  • 5G/LTE RAN or satellite terminal test experience
  • Data pipelines or dashboards for test results
  • C or C++ exposure
  • Keysight or Rohde & Schwarz instrument control libraries

What You'll Do

  • Build, extend, and maintain the in-house Python test framework for nightly automated runs
  • Convert validated manual tests into looped, scaled runs across multiple units and product variants
  • Add stress and temperature sweeps to automated test runs
  • Keep nightly runs healthy: triage failures, separate test or setup faults from real hardware issues, and fix the framework
  • Build reporting so RF results (EIRP, EVM, SNR, RSSI, BER, link quality) are available after every run
  • Control lab instruments from Python and debug at the bench when automation exposes a problem
  • Track work and defects in Jira; follow version control and release practices on the team's build pipeline
  • Own a defined part of the automation and propose improvements the team has not thought of
