Original job description

An enterprise IT organization produces a steady stream of instructions, guidance, white papers, briefings, and official correspondence, and every one of them carries the organization's credibility with the people who read it. The Red Gate Group is seeking a Communications Editor to support a major Intelligence Community customer's enterprise IT organization, owning the quality and consistency of its written communications, marketing content, and strategic messaging. You will review, edit, and proofread products from across the enterprise against the customer's style manual, briefing templates, and Section 508 accessibility requirements, so that what leaves the organization is clear, consistent, and ready for a senior audience.

Beyond the editing desk, you will develop and implement integrated media plans, marketing campaigns, and creative strategies, and manage the production of communications products from concept through release. You will manage the editorial project load end to end, keeping project documentation current, leading team meetings, and driving process improvements that make delivery faster and more consistent. Working with leadership and technical teams, you will help define strategic communications roadmaps, oversee content integration, and keep every deliverable compliant with the customer's editorial and publication standards.

You Have

  • 8+ years of experience in project management, communications, technical editing, or a closely related field, including recent experience within the last 2 years. This experience requirement is firm and cannot be met through education or certifications.
  • Master's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Project Management, or a related discipline, or one of the following in its place: an Associate's degree in a related field and 4 additional years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2 additional years of relevant experience, or 6 additional years of relevant experience. The additional years used in place of the degree are on top of the 8 year experience requirement above, not counted within it.

In plain terms: with a Master's you need 8 years, with a Bachelor's 10, with an Associate's 12, and with no degree 14.

  • In-depth knowledge of editorial standards, style guides, and publication processes within DoD or Intelligence Community organizations.
  • Experience editing and proofreading official products such as policy instructions, guidance documents, white papers, briefings, and correspondence to a published style manual, including Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Experience managing the production of communications products, campaigns, or media plans for an enterprise audience.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Nice If You Have

  • Current CI Polygraph.
