Salary Range: $79,000 - $119,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity
We collaborate with manufacturing firms in the Lansing area that seek skilled Purchasing Managers. Usual Responsibilities
- Manage the purchasing budget and report cost variances.
- Coordinate with production and engineering on material needs.
- Maintain purchasing records and contract documentation.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers and vendors.
- Issue purchase orders and track delivery schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels and reorder materials as needed.
- Resolve supply shortages and late shipments with vendors.
- Review supplier performance and maintain approved vendor lists.
Recommended Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems and purchase order software.
- Knowledge of raw material and component markets.
- Solid spreadsheet and cost analysis skills.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or a related field.
- Five or more years of purchasing experience in manufacturing.
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience sourcing from overseas suppliers.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and inventory practices.
- Contract review and legal terms experience.
- Experience in a high-volume production environment.
- APICS or ISM certification.
