Original job description

About the Role The June is seeking a polished, personable Cocktail Server to deliver warm, knowledgeable beverage service across our bar and lounge spaces. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming experience from the first greeting to the final check, guiding members and guests through our cocktail, wine, and spirits offerings, and keeping drinks and service moving smoothly alongside the bar team. As a visible member of the front-of-house team, the Cocktail Server plays an important part in making every member feel recognized and well cared for. The ideal candidate is gracious, observant, and eager to learn, with a strong sense of urgency and a genuine passion for hospitality and beverage. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in front-of-house service within a new and growing hospitality concept.

Key Responsibilities

Member & Guest Service

  • Greet members and guests warmly, learn and use names, and note preferences so that no member has to introduce themselves twice.
  • Present and describe cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and non-alcoholic options with confidence, and make thoughtful recommendations based on each member’s tastes.
  • Take orders accurately and deliver beverages and light bar bites promptly and with polish.
  • Anticipate needs, check in at the right moments, and handle requests and concerns with grace, involving a manager when appropriate.
  • Maintain a calm, hospitable presence during high-volume periods, private events, and special programming.

Responsible Alcohol Service

  • Check identification according to The June’s procedures and never serve anyone under 21.
  • Monitor guests’ consumption, and do not serve anyone who appears intoxicated. Notify a manager, offer water and food, and help arrange a safe ride home when needed.
  • Follow all Florida alcohol laws, Company policies, and responsible service standards.
  • Communicate allergy and dietary needs clearly to the bar and kitchen, and never guess.

Bar & Floor Operations

  • Enter orders accurately in the point-of-sale system, process payments, and handle cash and checks according to Company procedures.
  • Work closely with bartenders, barbacks, runners, and kitchen team members to keep drinks and food flowing in sync.
  • Complete opening, closing, and side work, including setting and resetting tables, polishing glassware and silverware, restocking service stations, and cleaning the lounge.
  • Keep tables, bar-top areas, and service stations clean, organized, and presentable throughout service.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and safety procedures.

Teamwork & Professionalism

  • Learn the cocktail program, wine list, and menu thoroughly, and participate in pre-shift lineups and tastings.
  • Support teammates across the floor and the bar, and communicate clearly and calmly during busy periods.
  • Receive feedback constructively and look for opportunities to learn and grow within the front-of-house team.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, respect, and high standards across The June.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a cocktail server, bartender, server, or in a similar hospitality role preferred, though we are happy to train the right person.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Working knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and classic cocktails, and a desire to keep learning.
  • Strong communication skills and a warm, composed presence with members and guests.
  • Comfort with point-of-sale systems and handling cash and payments accurately.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to carry trays with multiple drinks, lift up to 30 lbs, and stand and walk for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Current food safety and alcohol service certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in fine dining, craft cocktail bars, hotels, or private clubs.
  • Wine, spirits, or cocktail certifications or coursework.
  • Interest in growing into a bartender or senior service role.
  • Experience supporting a restaurant or bar opening or pre-opening training program.

At The June, great hospitality is personal. We’re looking for someone who remembers names, reads the room, and understands that a well-made drink and a warm welcome are often the moments members remember most.
