Original job description

If you enjoy taking ownership of projects, collaborating with teams, and building strong client relationships, this role offers the opportunity to manage facilities, materials, environmental, or geotechnical engineering projects from start to finish. You’ll help ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within the contracted scope, and within budget while monitoring progress and performance against the project plan. You’ll play an important role in keeping projects moving forward by identifying operational challenges, troubleshooting issues, recommending or implementing solutions, and helping minimize delays. Responsibilities may also include managing resources, project schedules, budgets and forecasts, and coordinating with external vendors, subcontractors, and contractors. Throughout the project, you’ll conduct meetings, prepare project status reports, establish priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet project targets and milestones. You may also communicate directly with clients and coordinate the delivery of work products to support client satisfaction. You’ll work closely with the APR to ensure opportunities for engagement throughout the project, particularly at critical junctures, and will also be involved in invoice approvals, preparing change orders, and collections.

  • Manage all aspects of large-scale, complex projects from planning through completion.
  • Partner with the client or NAM to define project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Lead interactions with clients and key stakeholders to ensure their goals and priorities are considered throughout project execution.
  • Develop, communicate, and implement project plans that establish a clear path for successful project completion.
  • Lead project safety efforts, including preparation of and compliance with approved safety plans.
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges to minimize delays and keep projects moving forward.
  • Identify, develop, and secure the resources necessary to successfully complete projects.
  • Prepare designs and work specifications; develop schedules, budgets, and forecasts; and select appropriate materials, equipment, project staff, and contractors.
  • Estimate the costs, resources, and time required for project completion.
  • Prepare expenditure forecasts and manage project scope and schedule to support delivery within budget.
  • Monitor project activities, allocate resources, and assign tasks to ensure project targets and milestones are achieved.
  • Collaborate with other departments and offices to secure specialized resources and expertise needed to support project success.
  • Lead project meetings and prepare reports to clearly communicate project status within and beyond the project team.
  • Coach and mentor project staff, providing support and guidance to help resolve project-related challenges.
  • Coordinate with the APR to ensure appropriate oversight is in place and sufficient time is provided for quality reviews.
  • Coordinate with Accounting to support the financial management of business intelligence, invoicing, and collections.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of project-related risks, including potential project challenges and methods for protecting the Company, and maintain familiarity with applicable Company risk policies.
  • Lead and promote safety efforts across the project team, ensuring adherence to safety rules and guidelines. Create and model a safe work environment, demonstrate appropriate safety practices, and promote pre-task planning for all projects.
  • Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement throughout projects. Monitor quality standards and practices and engage APRs at the onset of projects to support appropriate quality oversight.
  • Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practices by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and a minimum of 10 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 14 years’ related experience.
  • A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
