Original job description

You've built your environmental experience. Now put it somewhere you can make an impact. Terracon is growing in Sioux Falls, and we are looking for an experienced Environmental Project Manager with 5+ years of experience who is ready for greater ownership, stronger client connections, and the opportunity to help shape our growing environmental practice. You will lead meaningful projects, build trusted relationships, collaborate with talented professionals across Terracon, and make a visible impact in the Sioux Falls market. Why This Opportunity Is Different Help grow something. You won’t simply step into an established seat. You’ll have an opportunity to help grow our environmental presence in Sioux Falls and influence what comes next. Local relationships. National resources. Build relationships and serve clients locally while tapping into technical expertise and project resources from across Terracon. Variety in your work. The environmental practice can span site assessments, site investigations, risk and remediation, permitting, stormwater, environmental planning, and other environmental services. Room to grow. At the Project Manager level, Terracon’s career path emphasizes project leadership, mentoring, client relationships, and continued development toward larger and more complex projects. Employee ownership. The earlier environmental PM posting specifically highlighted Terracon as an employee-owned organization where employees can help set the company’s course and benefit from its financial success. The Person Who Will Thrive Here You probably enjoy being the person clients call when they have a complicated problem. You can move comfortably between a project site, a client conversation, a technical report, and a project budget. You like working independently, but you also recognize the value of having a much larger team of specialists behind you. Most importantly, you want the chance to build relationships, develop others, grow a practice, and have a real impact on the success of an office. If that sounds like you, we’d love to start a conversation. Bring your experience. Help us build what's next. We know there is more than one path to becoming a great Environmental Project Manager. If you have a strong environmental consulting foundation and are excited about leading projects, building client relationships, developing others, and growing your career, we encourage you to apply, even if you do not meet every qualification. If you are ready for a role where your experience, ideas, and relationships can make a difference, we would like to meet you.

Lead environmental assessment, investigation, characterization, and remediation projects.
Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communication.
Work directly with clients to solve complex environmental challenges.
Coordinate field staff, laboratories, subcontractors, and technical resources.
Mentor developing professionals and help strengthen the local team.
Help grow environmental services and relationships in Sioux Falls and the surrounding region.
Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline practices by the Firm including Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 9 years’ related experience.
Experience managing scope, schedule, budget, and project deliverables.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.
Experience in one or more areas such as Phase I/II assessments, soil and groundwater investigations, remediation, environmental compliance, permitting, or regulatory coordination.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history
Preferred: Professional Geologist (PG), Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), or another relevant credential.

Our national environmental team helps our clients do the right thing for their projects, and for our planet. Our professionals include environmental architects, archaeologists, biologists, engineers, geologists, historians, industrial hygienists, planners, and scientists. Working together in the field, office, or lab, we help guide clients through the steps and processes to address environmental challenges and move their projects forward as quickly, safely, and sustainably as possible. With services including site assessment, planning and permitting including cultural and natural resources, sustainability and resiliency, regulatory compliance, and industrial hygiene and safety, we’re at the forefront of helping clients succeed and communities thrive.

Terracon is a 100 percent employee-owned multidiscipline consulting firm comprised of more than 8,000 curious minds focused on solving engineering and technical challenges from more than 200 locations nationwide. Since 1965, Terracon has evolved into a successful multi-discipline firm specializing in environmental, facilities, geotechnical, and materials services. Terracon’s growth is due to our talented employee-owners exceeding expectations in client service and growing their careers with new and exciting opportunities in the marketplace.
