Original job description
Rutherford Hill Winery | Napa Valley, California Be the First Hello in an Unforgettable Experience At Rutherford Hill Winery, exceptional hospitality begins long before the first glass of wine is poured. From the moment a guest calls, sends an email, or arrives at our property, every interaction is an opportunity to make them feel welcome, valued, and excited for the experience ahead. We’re looking for a warm, outgoing, and highly organized Concierge who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and takes pride in making every interaction feel effortless. You’ll be the first point of contact for many of our guests, helping them discover the experiences that best suit their visit while ensuring the details behind the scenes are handled with care. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, a natural problem-solver, and a dependable team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You enjoy juggling multiple priorities, keeping information organized, and thinking one step ahead. You understand that a thoughtful email, a welcoming phone call, an accurate reservation, or a timely follow-up can make all the difference in someone's day. If you love hospitality, enjoy creating connections, and find satisfaction in bringing people and details together, we’d love to welcome you to our team. What You'll Do As our Concierge, you’ll help guide guests through their Rutherford Hill journey, from their first inquiry to their arrival at the winery. You’ll serve as a trusted resource for our guests and a key partner to our hospitality team, ensuring every visit begins with a positive impression and runs as smoothly as possible.
Your responsibilities will include:
Creating a warm welcome. Greet guests with genuine enthusiasm, provide thoughtful recommendations, and help visitors discover the tasting experiences that best fit their interests. You’ll confidently communicate the unique features of our offerings and help guests explore premium and private experiences when appropriate. Managing reservations and guest communications. Serve as the primary point of contact for incoming reservation calls and emails, responding promptly, professionally, and thoughtfully. You’ll manage booking requests, confirm upcoming visits, answer questions, and help guests feel prepared and excited for their arrival. Keeping the details in order. Accurately maintain guest information, reservation records, and customer databases. You’ll use our reservation and table-management systems to coordinate seating, monitor table availability, manage waitlists, and minimize guest wait times. Helping guests discover more. Share your knowledge of Rutherford Hill's wines, tasting experiences, sister properties, and the surrounding Napa Valley area. You’ll make personalized recommendations, assist with reservations at sister properties, and identify opportunities to enhance a guest’s visit through relevant upgrades and additional offerings. Working as one team. Collaborate closely with management, wine educators, and fellow hospitality team members to coordinate arrivals, manage guest flow, and maintain a seamless experience. During peak periods, you may also assist with greeting, pouring, and other tasting room responsibilities. Thinking ahead and taking initiative. Anticipate guest needs, identify opportunities to improve the experience, and take ownership of follow-up tasks and special projects assigned by management. You’ll help ensure that no detail is overlooked and that our team is always prepared to deliver exceptional service. Cross-training opportunities at Rutherford Hill and within our hospitality operations may also be available. The Person We're Looking For Welcoming and outgoing. You genuinely enjoy meeting people, making connections, and helping guests feel at ease. Your warmth and enthusiasm make people feel welcome from the very first interaction. An exceptional communicator. You communicate clearly, thoughtfully, and professionally in person, over the phone, through email, and with your teammates. You know how to adapt your approach to different people and situations while maintaining a polished, approachable demeanor. Organized and detail-oriented. You take pride in keeping information accurate, managing reservations efficiently, and following through on commitments. You understand that small details matter and that accuracy behind the scenes is essential to a seamless guest experience. Dependable and proactive. You show up prepared, take ownership of your responsibilities, and follow tasks through to completion. You don't wait to be told every next step; you anticipate needs and look for ways to help. A collaborative team player. You enjoy working with others, communicate important information clearly, and understand that exceptional hospitality depends on everyone working together. You’re willing to lend a hand wherever needed and approach challenges with a positive, solutions-oriented attitude. Comfortable in a fast-paced environment. You can balance phone calls, emails, walk-in guests, and reservation changes without losing your composure or attention to detail. You stay organized under pressure and understand how to prioritize competing needs. Curious and eager to learn. You enjoy learning about wine, hospitality, and the Napa Valley experience. You’re motivated to develop your product knowledge and use it to make meaningful recommendations that enhance each guest’s visit. Qualifications & Requirements
