Original job description

Company Overview Tenzo AI is revolutionizing the recruitment industry with its cutting-edge AI recruiting agents. By leveraging industry-specific AI agents, Tenzo identifies top talent more effectively and at a lower cost than traditional recruiters. We free recruiters from manual processes and elevate them to focus only on the human aspect of the role. We are starting by disrupting the $11B RPO (recruitment process outsourcing) market (17% CAGR), where we replace offshore recruiters doing repetitive tasks with our advanced AI interviewing and scheduling technology. Tenzo is founded by engineering leaders from Verkada/Stanford research labs and backed by industry-leading investors like Abstract, WIN, a16z, and the founders of Yahoo, Verkada, and Hebbia. Our AI agents are currently active at a diverse swath of companies from hospitals, to manufacturers, to large retailers. Job Title Founding Engineer Role Overview As a Founding Software Engineer at Tenzo AI, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our agents. You will be tasked with building foundational parts of our technology and your contributions will be key to defining the success of our product.

Key Responsibilities

Work closely with our CTO to build our product from the ground up.
Be a champion for user experience, incorporating a deep understanding of our users to guide design decisions alongside the founding team.
Set the foundational system architecture and select key technologies for the codebase.
Help us build additional recruiting agents and deliver on our technical and product roadmap.
Help establish engineering best practices and standards within the team. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

Requirements

5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
Experience with zero-to-one development: You should have built new products or systems from the ground up.
Deep appreciation for and commitment to delivering outstanding user experiences.
Exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to work cross-functionally.
Comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of a fast-growing startup environment.
Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field from a top 10 CS school.

Nice to Have

We are looking for backend and AI engineers, so ideally you will have deep experience in one of those domains. However, an ability to move around the stack into new areas as needed is definitely appreciated.
Experience with some of the technologies in our stack: Python, GRPC, Kubernetes, React, Typescript, Azure and Terraform.
Early-stage experience at a startup.
Experience building applied AI products.

What We Offer

Impact: Be a key player in shaping the success of our product and company.
Growth: Build a fundamentally new AI product offering with the support of our experienced team and investors. Grow rapidly with the company.
Culture: Join a culture that values innovation, ownership, accountability, and fun.
Compensation: Competitive salary, equity and benefits.

Location We're prioritizing building our team with an in-person culture at our office in San Francisco, valuing the magic that happens when talented people work closely together. Why Tenzo We're not building yet another enterprise SaaS tool. We’re creating AI agents that fundamentally change how companies and talent interact. Just as the Internet changed how we find jobs (e.g. LinkedIn, Indeed) and what the job of a recruiter was (resume reviews, screening calls), AI agents will cause an even greater change to the world of recruitment. We have the unique opportunity to shape the way the rest of the world finds their next job. If you're excited to join a team that combines the best of startup culture with the backing of top-tier investors, we'd love to talk.
