Job Title: Engineering Managers (multiple positions)
Job Duties: Support and develop a team of software engineers through feedback, coaching, and mentorship, setting context and expectations while eliminating barriers to execution. Own team-wide responsibility for day-to-day execution against priorities. Foster key partnerships between leadership, engineering, and product teams. Collaborate across teams to align roadmaps. Develop multi-year roadmaps and establish the vision for scalability, reliability, and engineering velocity of a cloud-native data persistence platform. Drive major system architecture and execution for distributed storage systems including write-ahead logs, key-value datastores, and tiered storage. Engage with key customers to understand their requirements and enable their business. Ensure team members understand priorities and have the tools and processes needed to meet shipping deadlines. Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field or foreign degree equivalent and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in distributed systems software engineering, including at least 3 years of experience leading a team of senior and staff-level software engineers. Experience must include:
- 5 years of experience managing or developing large-scale write-ahead log (WAL) systems, transaction log systems, or distributed append-only event streaming platforms processing at least 100,000 transactions per second;
- 5 years of experience designing, operating, or managing distributed key-value datastores or NoSQL databases (such as Cassandra, DynamoDB, Pebble, or RocksDB) at petabyte scale;
- 5 years of experience with cloud infrastructure operations on AWS, GCP, or Azure, including managing stateful services deployed across multiple availability zones;
- 5 years of experience building or leading the development of complex distributed software systems with high-availability requirements of 99.99% or greater uptime;
- 5 years of experience with data lifecycle management including tiered storage, data replication, disaster recovery, and backup/restore procedures for mission-critical production systems;
- 5 years of experience with concurrency programming and performance optimization in Go/Java or a comparable systems programming language;
- 5 years of experience managing the operational reliability of sharded, partitioned, or replicated stateful systems, including capacity planning, incident response, and SLA management;
- 3 years of experience driving cross-organizational technical alignment and drafting multi-year technology roadmaps for infrastructure or platform teams.
Experience may be gained concurrently.
