Senior Systems Engineer

DescriptionWe are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide immediate support for its Infrastructure team on a 3-6 month engagement. This individual will primarily assist with Tier 2 infrastructure support, ticket resolution, server administration, and ongoing operational support across a Windows, Linux, and virtualized environment.The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Linux administration, infrastructure monitoring, and backup operations. This person must be comfortable working independently to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues while assisting with ongoing projects as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Support & Ticket Resolution (Approximately 70%)Resolve Tier 2 infrastructure incidents and service requests.Troubleshoot and restore files as needed.Support Active Directory-related incidents and requests.Assist with server administration, including server builds and decommissioning activities.Respond to monitoring alerts and investigate infrastructure issues.Support day-to-day operational activities across the server environment.Systems AdministrationAdminister Windows Server environments (2019 and newer).Manage and troubleshoot Active Directory services, including:User and group administrationGroup Policy managementDNS and DHCPDomain ControllersReplication issuesAuthentication troubleshootingOverall AD infrastructure supportVirtualization AdministrationSupport VMware Version 8 environments and assist with the ongoing transition toward Hyper-V.Provision and manage virtual machines.Troubleshoot host and guest operating system issues.Support storage and networking within virtual environments.Manage snapshots, checkpoints, migrations, clustering, and performance-related issues.Linux AdministrationSupport Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.0.3 systems.Perform system administration and troubleshooting activities within the Linux environment.Monitoring & Backup SupportRespond to and investigate alerts within OpManager.Assist with monitoring configuration, threshold tuning, and alert-noise reduction efforts.Monitor Veeam backup jobs.Troubleshoot failed backup jobs and ensure backup operations are functioning properly.Project Support (Approximately 30%)Assist infrastructure projects as needed.Collaborate with the systems engineering team on operational improvements and environment maintenance.SkillsWindows Server Administration, Active Directory, VMware, hyper v, Linux administration, Veeam, ServiceNowTop Skills DetailsWindows Server Administration, Active Directory, VMware, hyper v, Linux administrationAdditional Skills & QualificationsExpected In First 2 WeeksSuccessful candidates should be able to:Assist the team with ticket resolution efforts.Support Active Directory-related requests and incidents.Become familiar with the County's overall infrastructure environment and operational processes.Experience LevelExpert LevelWe reserve the rightto pay above or below the posted wage based on factors unrelated to sex, race,or any other protected classification. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Colorado Springs, CO. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $70.00/hr.
