Original job description

Job Duties:

Salesforce Architecture & Development

Serve as our primary Salesforce technical expert and own the technical health and evolution of the platform.

Design, configure, develop, test, and maintain scalable Salesforce solutions across Sales Cloud and Service Cloud, using standard platform capabilities where they meet the need and custom development where it is justified.

Build and maintain custom objects, fields, validation rules, permission sets, flows, Apex classes and triggers, Lightning Web Components, and related platform capabilities.

Establish and maintain practical technical standards for data modeling, automation, custom development, testing, deployment, security, and platform-limit compliance.

Document architecture, automations, integrations, dependencies, and key technical decisions so the Salesforce environment remains supportable and company knowledge does not depend on one individual.

Gap Analysis & Solution Design

Lead discovery sessions with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, and other non-technical stakeholders to understand current workflows, pain points, controls, reporting needs, and desired outcomes.

Translate business needs into process designs, functional and technical requirements, solution options, and an executable delivery plan.

Identify gaps, dependencies, edge cases, and technical risks; explain trade-offs in clear business terms and recommend solutions that balance immediate value with long-term maintainability.

Challenge proposed solutions constructively when a simpler, safer, or more durable approach is available.

Sales, Quoting & Customer Service Automation

Support and extend Sales workflows including lead and opportunity management, quoting, renewals, broker or account management, and related reporting.

Support and extend Customer Service workflows including case management, queues, routing, service-console experiences, operational reporting, and related automations.

Evaluate and implement platform capabilities that improve user productivity, process consistency, customer service, and visibility across business teams.

Integration Design & Delivery

Design and implement integrations between Salesforce, third-party vendors, and our specific applications using appropriate APIs, authentication patterns, events, middleware, or file-based exchanges.

Partner with software engineers and external vendors to define system boundaries, integration contracts, data mappings, failure handling, retry behavior, reconciliation, logging, and operational ownership.

Provide Salesforce expertise and technical direction for connected systems without being expected to develop unrelated features outside the Salesforce domain.

Agile Delivery & Jira Lifecycle

Own Salesforce work from initial intake through discovery, design, implementation, testing, release, documentation, and post-release support.

Participate actively in backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily coordination, reviews or demonstrations, and retrospectives as part of the Software Engineering team.

Provide clear, timely updates on progress, decisions, risks, blockers, and changes in scope; escalate issues early when business or engineering decisions are needed.

Cross-functional Collaboration

Report directly to the Engineering Manager and operate as a member of the Software Engineering team while serving as the teams deepest Salesforce specialist.

Build trusted working relationships with business leaders and day-to-day users, facilitate requirements discussions, demonstrate completed work, coordinate user acceptance testing, and support adoption.

Collaborate with software engineers on integration, security, reliability, and release boundaries while retaining ownership of Salesforce-specific technical decisions and implementation.

Maintenance & Governance

Lead ongoing Salesforce maintenance, enhancements, environment management, data migrations, platform upgrades, production support, and root-cause resolution.

Use or help establish source control, sandbox strategy, automated testing, deployment controls, and repeatable release practices appropriate for a production Salesforce environment.

Apply least-privilege access, appropriate sharing and permission models, secure development practices, and auditable change controls.

Ensure Salesforce solutions align with our security standards and applicable privacy, healthcare, and regulatory requirements.
