Patient Registration Representative - Emergency Department (Night Shift) Location: Emergency DepartmentAssignment Length: 13 Weeks with Potential for Extension or Full-Time EmploymentSchedule: 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week, every other weekendAvailable Shift: 6:00 PM - 6:30 AM Position Overview We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Patient Registration Representative to join our Emergency Department team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for candidates with strong customer service experience and an interest in healthcare administration. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming experience while accurately completing registration and insurance-related processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients, families, and visitors in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Perform patient registration, check-in, and pre-registration activities.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
- Confirm insurance eligibility and collect applicable patient payments.
- Respond to patient and customer inquiries by phone and in person.
- Advocate for patients and customers to ensure their needs are met.
- Maintain accurate records while adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous customer service experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with insurance verification or payer information preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- Experience using Epic or other electronic medical record (EMR) systems is a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and remain professional in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
