Cable Technician

Cable Technician Job DescriptionWe are seeking entry-level cable technicians to join our team in Sandston, Virginia. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the telecommunication field, working on the largest data center in Richmond, VA. The role involves learning and assisting in the construction of cable infrastructure across the data center, working closely with experienced technicians.Responsibilities

• Assist higher-level technicians and team leads in building cable infrastructure.
• Install cable trays, pull cables and fibers, and learn color codes.
• Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables, and determine length and slack.
• Route cable through data center and perform fire-stopping procedures on fire walls.
• Install grounding for racks, equipment, and cable as required.
• Suspend and support cable correctly using cable trays, J-hooks, D-rings, bridal rings, and trapeze.
• Terminate low-voltage devices and follow blueprints.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and on time, including timesheets and work orders.
• Adhere to all company, customer, and industry quality and safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Telecom experience, including installing cable trays, pulling cable/fiber, punch down, and termination.
• Experience working with hand tools.
• Construction experience, particularly in following blueprints and building.

Additional Skills and Qualifications

• Punctual and team player.
• Flexibility with work hours, including potential for 10-12 hour days and 6-day work weeks.
• Comfortable working in a data center environment and at heights.
• Ability to handle organization and occasional loud environments.

Work EnvironmentThe position is on-site in a data center with over 2 feet of space dedicated to ongoing construction. The work environment requires comfort with heights and an ability to handle some organization and occasional loud environments. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Sandston, VA. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
