Test Engineer Entry Level

Overview

Tech(x) is seeking an entry-level Test Engineer to support the integration, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of Army tactical radio and communications systems. Working under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will help verify hardware and software performance, document results, and support defect resolution. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing test procedures, test cases, and checklists based on system requirements and established test plans.
• Support the setup and configuration of tactical radios, computers, software, and laboratory test equipment.
• Execute assigned functional, regression, integration, and scenario-based tests under technical guidance.
• Learn to use Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) safely and in accordance with established procedures.
• Record test conditions, results, and supporting data; identify and report unexpected behavior and discrepancies.
• Document hardware and software defects in a tracking system and assist with reproducing issues and verifying corrections.
• Assist engineers with troubleshooting system setup, connectivity, and hardware or software issues.
• Prepare test summaries and contribute to technical reports, status updates, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering teams and government personnel at the customer site; follow applicable security, safety, and quality procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Foundational understanding of engineering principles and hardware or software testing gained through coursework, laboratory projects, internships, military training, or employment.
• Basic familiarity with computer hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts.
• Ability to follow technical procedures, collect accurate data, and document results clearly.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn tactical communications systems and test equipment.
• Ability to communicate with technical and nontechnical team members and work collaboratively in a customer environment.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications
• Coursework, projects, internships, or military training involving radio frequency (RF) systems, electronics, tactical radios, or communications networks.
• Exposure to laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, or multimeters.
• Basic familiarity with Java, Python, or another programming or scripting language.
• Exposure to test plans, defect tracking tools, or requirements verification.
• Current Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Certifications CompTIA Security+ or a relevant electronics, networking, or testing certification. Certification is preferred, not required for consideration; any assignment-specific requirements will be confirmed before placement. Clearance Current Secret security clearance or higher required. Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 0–2 years of relevant experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply; relevant academic projects, laboratory work, internships, and military training will be considered. Location Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. On-site. Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Schedule flexibility may be available with the Program Manager’s approval.
