Original job description

Location: San Francisco / United States Employment: Full-time | Hybrid Travel: Frequent - approximately 3-4 days per week onsite with customers

Help Transform How Buildings Are Designed

The architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is undergoing a major technological transformation. Artificial intelligence, computational design, and intelligent automation are changing how professionals approach building design.

We're looking for an experienced BIM Solutions & Implementation Engineer to help bring a new generation of AI-powered design technology into the hands of architects, engineers, and construction professionals.

This isn't a traditional BIM modelling role, nor is it purely a software engineering position.

You'll work directly with leading AEC organisations, helping them integrate innovative design software into their existing workflows, overcome technical challenges, and unlock new possibilities for their teams.

You'll be the bridge between sophisticated technology and the people who use it every day.

If you have extensive experience with Revit, enjoy solving complex technical problems, and love helping others adopt new technology, this could be your opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of building design.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead Technology Implementation

Manage the implementation of advanced AI-powered design software within architecture, engineering, and construction organisations.
Guide customers through the entire implementation journey, from initial demonstrations and pilot projects to successful organisation-wide adoption.
Understand existing BIM environments and design workflows, identifying opportunities for integration, automation, and improvement.
Configure solutions, develop templates, and create custom integrations to meet specific customer requirements.

Become a Trusted Technical Advisor

Work closely with architects, engineers, BIM managers, and design technology teams to understand their challenges.
Demonstrate software capabilities and explain how new technology can improve design processes.
Deliver technical training, workshops, and presentations to users and senior stakeholders.
Develop onboarding resources, technical documentation, and practical guides to accelerate adoption.
Build strong relationships with customers, becoming their trusted advisor throughout the implementation process.

Solve Real-World Technical Challenges

Investigate and resolve technical issues involving BIM workflows, software integrations, and design environments.
Troubleshoot complex problems independently, collaborating with software engineering teams when necessary.
Develop practical solutions using scripting, automation, APIs, and computational design tools.
Help customers optimise their workflows and get measurable value from the technology.

Influence Product Development

Act as the technical voice of the customer, communicating insights and requirements to Product and Engineering teams.
Identify recurring challenges and opportunities for product improvements.
Contribute ideas that make the software more intuitive, powerful, and effective for AEC professionals.
Measure success through customer satisfaction, product adoption, and tangible improvements in design workflows.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

Advanced Autodesk Revit expertise, including a strong understanding of BIM workflows and how design teams operate.
Practical experience with at least some of the following: Rhino, Grasshopper, Dynamo, Python, Revit API, or similar computational design technologies.
Previous experience in a customer-facing technical position, such as:
BIM Manager or BIM Implementation Specialist
Design Technology Manager or Digital Practice Lead
VDC Manager or VDC Technology Specialist
BIM Consultant or Digital Transformation Consultant
Technical Implementation Consultant or Solutions Engineer
Experience introducing, implementing, or supporting technology within architecture, engineering, or construction organisations.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to translate complex technical challenges into practical solutions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to audiences with different levels of expertise.
A proactive, consultative approach with a genuine interest in helping customers succeed.

AI and Emerging Technology

We're particularly interested in professionals who actively explore how artificial intelligence can improve the AEC industry.

You should be comfortable experimenting with AI tools and ideally have hands-on experience building AI agents, automating workflows, or developing AI-assisted solutions.

We're looking for someone who doesn't simply follow technology trends but enjoys testing new ideas and putting them into practice.

What Would Make You Stand Out

Experience developing custom Revit plugins, Dynamo scripts, or computational design solutions.
Knowledge of Rhino.Inside.Revit, pyRevit, or similar technologies.
Previous involvement in enterprise software implementations or digital transformation projects.
Active participation in the BIM and computational design community.
Contributions to technical forums, open-source projects, or industry events such as Autodesk University or BILT.
Experience working with large architectural practices, engineering consultancies, or general contractors.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

Work at the intersection of AI and building design.

Help introduce emerging technology that has the potential to fundamentally change how buildings are designed.

See the impact of your work.

Rather than developing solutions in isolation, you'll work directly with customers and see how your contributions improve their daily operations.

Influence the product.

Your technical expertise and customer insights will help shape the evolution of an innovative software platform.

Combine technology with people.

This role offers the opportunity to remain technically hands-on while building relationships, solving problems, and helping organisations embrace change.

Be part of an ambitious technology journey.

Join a team working to bring modern software engineering and artificial intelligence into one of the world's most important industries.

Important Information

This is a highly customer-facing position requiring regular travel throughout the United States.

You should expect to spend approximately 3-4 days per week onsite with customers, supporting implementations, delivering training, and working directly with design and engineering teams.

The ideal candidate enjoys this level of interaction and is motivated by helping customers achieve meaningful results.

Ready to Help Shape the Future of AEC Technology?

If you're an experienced BIM or design technology professional who loves solving problems, exploring emerging technologies, and working directly with customers, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply today and help bring the next generation of intelligent design tools to the AEC industry.
