GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This position may involve access to technology subject to U.S. export controls, including International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Any offer is contingent upon the applicant’s ability to comply with applicable export-control requirements.
The Product Compliance Manager helps ensure that products and product changes meet applicable safety, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), environmental, and customer requirements. This position plans and coordinates certification and qualification activities from requirements review through testing, documentation, and approval. The role also provides functional coordination of component-engineering priorities and supports continuous improvement of compliance processes and laboratory capabilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES
The following duties are representative of the work performed. Other duties may be assigned.
· Coordinate product safety approvals and certifications with agencies such as UL and TÜV, including CB-related activities. Prepare, review, and maintain certification files, component data, reports, certificates, and related records.
· Evaluate the compliance impact of product and manufacturing changes, including component substitutions, alternate constructions, model options, and factory locations. Coordinate required agency submissions, documentation updates, and follow-up.
· Plan and support factory inspections and certification audits. Prepare relevant records, assist agency inspectors, and coordinate responses and corrective actions with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.
· Plan and coordinate EMC testing with internal teams and external laboratories. Clarify requirements and test profiles; review quotations, schedules, test setups, and results; and help investigate test failures and determine next steps.
· Coordinate environmental and mechanical qualification testing as applicable, including temperature/humidity, altitude, shock and vibration, and shipping-and-handling tests. Ensure plans and reports address applicable standards, customer specifications, and product requirements.
· Develop, maintain, and improve component-qualification procedures, forms, and records. Work with Engineering and Quality to evaluate new components, alternate parts, supplier changes, and qualification results.
· Provide functional coordination of component-engineering work priorities and requests. Partner with Engineering leadership and establish effective communication and routing with Purchasing and other internal stakeholders.
· Support compliance-laboratory readiness by coordinating equipment service and calibration, chamber availability, training, safe operation, and laboratory improvement needs.
· Coordinate technical inquiries from customers, suppliers, certification agencies, TDK divisions, and internal teams; communicate compliance status, risks, requirements, and recommended actions clearly.
· Coordinate assigned environmental and customer-compliance requests, including RoHS, REACH, conflict-minerals or related supplier declarations, in collaboration with Quality and other designated owners.
· Maintain project schedules, action items, and test status. Prepare or review purchase requests and laboratory quotations and route them through the company approval process.
· Monitor applicable regulatory and standards changes and coordinate updates to product certifications, procedures, and technical files as needed.
