Original job description

Who We Are

Tatcha is a skincare brand rooted in timeless Japanese wisdom, offering transformative yet kind-to-skin formulas that marry Japanese botanicals with clinical ingredients. Our formulation philosophy is informed by the Japanese concept hinou dokon, which means “skin-mind same root” - an acknowledgement of the powerful connection between the skin and the brain. Guided by the mission to care for people through their skin, Tatcha takes a holistic approach to skincare from concept to formulation to clinical evaluation, offering skincare rituals that benefit both skin and mind, while emphasizing the importance of mindfulness to skin health.

The Opportunity

Tatcha is a modern luxury Japanese skincare brand. Our purpose: to inspire self-love as a quiet, lasting revolution. Behind every campaign, every launch, every carefully considered digital experience is a framework of clarity - someone who understands how to move work from idea to execution without losing what made the idea worth pursuing in the first place.

We are looking for a Freelance Senior Creative Project Manager who brings both structural rigor and creative fluency to one of the most connective roles in our organization.

During their time on assignment with Tatcha, this person will own Packaging projects from brief through artwork development, approvals, mechanical release, and final production handoff, while also managing broader Creative initiatives across Brand, Digital, E-Commerce, and campaigns based on business priorities.

The Freelance Senior Creative Project Manager will also partner closely with Creative Operations to help build and improve Wrike workflows, templates, routing, approvals, and reporting. This role reports to the Director, Creative Production & Operations.

The ideal candidate brings strong operational judgment, understands how creative work moves through a complex organization, and can bring structure, clarity, and momentum without slowing the work down.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

  • Own end-to-end project management for assigned Creative initiatives, from intake and briefing through execution and final delivery.
  • Manage complex Creative projects across multiple workstreams, with a primary focus on Packaging.
  • Build and manage realistic timelines, milestones, dependencies, and critical delivery dates.
  • Ensure briefs, inputs, and requirements are complete and actionable before work begins.
  • Coordinate reviews, feedback, approvals, routing, and final handoffs across Creative and cross-functional partners.
  • Manage multiple concurrent workstreams and proactively identify risks, delays, scope changes, or resource conflicts.
  • Challenge unrealistic timelines and help drive clear decisions around priorities, ownership, sequencing, and deliverables.

Packaging

  • Serve as the primary operational project lead for Packaging, driving alignment on timelines, ownership, routing, and key decisions across cross-functional teams.
  • Manage key Packaging inputs and dependencies including copy, translations, dielines, whites, mechanicals, proofs, and final production files.
  • Partner closely with Creative, Product Development, Engineering, Procurement, Regulatory, Legal, Production, and Brand Marketing.
  • Manage artwork routing and approvals, ensuring the right stakeholders are involved at the right stages.
  • Proactively surface missing inputs, conflicting information, or risks before they impact timing, quality, or cost.
  • Support final artwork release and production handoff.

Cross-Functional & Creative Operations

  • Manage select Creative projects across Brand, Digital, E-Commerce, campaigns, and other business priorities based on team needs and capacity.
  • Serve as a key connector across Creative and cross-functional teams, providing clear visibility into project status, risks, decisions, and upcoming milestones.
  • Partner with Creative Operations to build, test, and improve Wrike workflows across Packaging and broader Creative projects.
  • Help develop standardized templates, timelines, intake processes, routing, approvals, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, improve visibility, and reduce unnecessary rounds or handoffs.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in creative project management, creative operations, packaging project management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience managing Packaging projects from concept through artwork development, mechanical release, and production is required.
  • Experience within beauty, skincare, cosmetics, fragrance, luxury, or consumer goods preferred.
  • Proficiency in Wrike, with demonstrated experience building and optimizing workflows, templates, routing, approvals, timelines, and reporting.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without losing the detail.
  • A self-starter who can operate independently, adapt quickly, and bring others along with them.
  • Strong cross-functional instincts - comfortable working across brand, marketing, e-commerce, design, and copy teams globally.

Who You Are

  • You find satisfaction in the structure that makes great work possible. You are the person who reads a brief and immediately sees the dependencies, the risks, and the path forward. You communicate with precision - to creatives, to marketers, to leadership - and you adjust your register without adjusting your standards.
  • You are not here to police timelines. You are here to protect the work.
