Position Overview:
We are seeking a Technical Trainer & Instructional Designer to own the end-to-end learning lifecycle across Product Development and related functional areas. In this dual-impact role, you will bridge scientific/pathology lab domain knowledge with modern adult learning principles-authoring scalable learning content (e-learning modules, hands-on lab guides, SOPs, quick-reference materials) and delivering engaging technical onboarding, hands-on coaching, and interactive workshops.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Design & Content Development
- Design, author, and update technical training modules, e-learning courses, and hands-on lab exercises using modern instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE).
- Translate complex scientific, pathology lab, and tissue-based assay concepts-including protocols for diagnostic instrumentation-into structured, accessible learning paths.
- Develop scenario-based digital modules, interactive walkthroughs, and multimedia assets using industry-standard authoring platforms (e.g., Articulate 360, Camtasia).
- Maintain and modernize courseware, lab guides, and training documentation in alignment with platform updates and quality compliance standards.
- Training Delivery & Facilitation
- Facilitate structured technical onboarding programs to accelerate time-to-productivity for new personnel
- Lead interactive classroom instruction, hands-on lab-based coaching, and virtual webinars.
- Apply modern adult learning strategies to optimize learner engagement, shifting away from passive lectures toward scenario-based learning and guided lab exercises.
- Needs Analysis, Tracking & Collaboration
- Conduct training needs analyses and skills-gap assessments with department managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define critical technical competencies.
- Manage Learning Management System (LMS) assets and maintain tracking systems to monitor completion, competency assessments, and organizational compliance.
- Partner closely with Strategic & Operational Excellence (S&OE) Technical Training team members, process owners, and cross-functional leadership to ensure seamless curriculum execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR
- Master’s Degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field with 1+ years of relevant experience.
- Direct experience designing and delivering technical training tailored for adult learners.
- Direct familiarity with tissue-based assay products or experience operating Ventana BenchMark staining instrument platforms (or equivalent diagnostic instrumentation).
- Ability to interface effectively with technical/scientific SMEs to extract and synthesize complex laboratory workflows into clear instructional content.
- Practical experience authoring technical curriculum using tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline/Rise), Camtasia, or equivalent e-learning software.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and modern Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Proven capability to articulate complex technical and non-technical information across diverse formats (in-person classroom, lab coaching, virtual).
- Strong project management, organization, and cross-functional matrix collaboration skills with the agility to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
