Original job description

We Are:

At Synopsys, we drive the innovations that shape the way we live and connect. Our technology is central to the Era of Pervasive Intelligence, from self-driving cars to learning machines. We lead in chip design, verification, and IP integration, empowering the creation of high-performance silicon chips and software content. Join us to transform the future through continuous technological innovation.

You Are:

You are a highly skilled cybersecurity engineer with a passion for protecting sensitive enterprise data across email, endpoint, cloud, and network environments. You bring deep hands-on expertise in Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Information Protection, and Data Security Posture Management.

You thrive in complex, highly technical environments where balancing security, compliance, and business productivity is critical. You understand how data flows across modern SaaS, cloud, endpoint, and collaboration platforms, and you are passionate about building scalable controls that protect intellectual property, regulated data, and business-critical information.

You are comfortable leading technical discussions with infrastructure teams, cloud engineers, application owners, legal and compliance stakeholders, and executive leadership. You possess a strong understanding of data classification, sensitivity labeling, insider risk mitigation, and enterprise security architecture. You excel at translating business requirements and regulatory obligations into practical, measurable security controls.

Collaborative and influential, you serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor - guiding data protection strategies, mentoring engineers, and driving adoption of data-centric security best practices across the enterprise. Above all, you are committed to protecting Synopsys' most valuable information assets while enabling innovation and business growth.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise-wide Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Information Protection solutions.
Managing and enhancing data protection controls across email, endpoint, cloud, network, and collaboration platforms.
Supporting the deployment and administration of Microsoft Purview Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention, and Sensitivity Labeling capabilities.
Designing and implementing data security policies utilizing Microsoft Data Protection Suite technologies, including Information Protection, Insider Risk Management, and Data Lifecycle Management capabilities.
Managing and optimizing data loss prevention controls, including inline DLP, CASB, SaaS security, cloud application protection, and internet egress controls.
Developing and tuning data classification frameworks, sensitivity labels, auto-labeling policies, and protection rules for structured and unstructured data.
Collaborating with legal, privacy, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure data protection controls align with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
Work with partner teams to investigate and resolve complex DLP incidents, policy violations, and data exposure events across enterprise environments.
Establishing standards, best practices, and governance processes for data protection, classification, labeling, and secure data handling.
Supporting Zero Trust initiatives through data-centric security controls and continuous monitoring of sensitive information movement.
Automating operational processes and reporting through scripting, integrations, and security workflows.
Documenting architectures, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks while providing technical guidance to stakeholders and engineering teams.

The Impact You Will Have:

Strengthen Synopsys' data security posture by preventing unauthorized data disclosure across cloud, endpoint, network, and collaboration environments.
Protect critical intellectual property, customer information, and regulated data through effective classification, labeling, and DLP controls.
Reduce organizational risk associated with insider threats, accidental data exposure, and unauthorized data exfiltration.
Improve visibility into enterprise data usage, movement, and risk through advanced monitoring and policy enforcement.
Enable secure collaboration and productivity while maintaining compliance with evolving regulatory and contractual requirements.
Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor for enterprise data protection strategy and architecture.
Drive adoption of modern data-centric security capabilities that support Synopsys' continued innovation and growth.
Enhance audit readiness and compliance through well-governed, measurable, and defensible data protection controls.

What You’ll Need:

Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in cybersecurity, data protection, information security, or related disciplines, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead engineering role.
Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft Information Protection Suite.
Strong experience implementing enterprise DLP programs across email, endpoint, network, cloud, and SaaS environments.
Hands-on experience with data loss prevention solutions, including CASB, inline DLP, and cloud security controls.
Expertise in data classification methodologies, information governance, and data protection frameworks.
Experience securing Microsoft 365 workloads, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Copilot environments.
Understanding of data protection regulations and standards, including GDPR, CCPA, PCI-DSS, SOX, and other applicable compliance frameworks.
Experience with cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and GCP.
Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, GIAC, Microsoft Security Certifications, or vendor-specific certifications are a plus (or willingness to obtain).

Who You Are:

Strategic and analytical thinker with a proactive approach to protecting sensitive data.
Excellent communicator who can clearly articulate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborative team player who builds strong partnerships across engineering, legal, compliance, privacy, and business teams.
Detail-oriented and highly organized with a commitment to operational excellence.
Adaptable and committed to continuous learning in the rapidly evolving data security landscape.
Highly ethical, trustworthy, and dedicated to safeguarding the organization's most critical information assets.

The Team You’ll Be A Part Of:

You will join Synopsys' Data & Identity Security Engineering team, a highly skilled group of security professionals focused on protecting the company's intellectual property, sensitive information, and critical business systems. The team is responsible for advancing enterprise data protection strategies, implementing industry-leading security technologies, and enabling secure collaboration across a global workforce.

Collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to excellence define the team's culture. Your expertise will directly contribute to strengthening Synopsys' data security posture and supporting the company's leadership in secure technology solutions.

Rewards and Benefits:

We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
