Original job description

About Us:

SyberJet Aircraft is a leading innovator in the development of advanced light jets, focused on delivering cutting-edge aviation solutions with a commitment to quality, performance, and safety.

Job Description:

SyberJet Aircraft is seeking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Back-End Developer who also builds NX / CATIA V5 applications with CAA V5 RADE. You will own our CAA codebase and the internal services and servers behind our PLM environment. On the CAA side: interactive commands, workbench add-ins, feature and data extensions, and batch utilities for design work on certificated aircraft. On the back end: APIs, cloud functions, databases, server maintenance, deployments, and production debugging. We expect code that survives the next service pack: clean interfaces, documented prerequisites, and a build anyone on the team can reproduce from source control.

This role requires CAA applications you have shipped into production use by engineers, and back-end services you have run in production. VBA, CATScript, or CATIA Automation experience on its own does not qualify.

SyberJet's environment: CATIA V5 and Siemens NX 2412/2506, Teamcenter 2506 with Active Workspace, and internal services built on C#, ASP.NET Core, an open-source web development framework | .NET Core, Azure Functions, and Azure Database for MySQL.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build NX / CATIA V5 Applications:
  • Design and develop CAA C++ applications: interactive commands, workbenches and add-ins, dialogs, and batch utilities.
  • Automate repetitive design work: NAS, MS, and AN standard-part insertion, parameter and attribute population, pre-release model checks, and 3D annotation tasks.
  • Build feature and data extensions that carry the engineering attributes Teamcenter needs downstream.
  • Replace fragile VBA and CATScript macros with supported CAA tools where the benefit justifies it.
  • CAA Codebase and Build:
  • Maintain CAA V5 RADE workspaces, frameworks, prerequisites, and runtime views, with builds reproducible from source control.
  • Plan and execute the CAA code migration for every CATIA V5 release and service pack, including regression testing.
  • Set coding standards, review code, and track defects to closure.
  • Integrate with PLM:
  • Make sure CAA applications behave correctly with Teamcenter-managed CATIA data, including attribute mapping and save and check-in behavior.
  • Work with the Teamcenter development team on the data exchanged between CATIA and Teamcenter.
  • Construct Weight and Balance Application with C# and Microsift Azure Integration.
  • Develop LOTAR Tools for nightly data validation, including tools for STEP AP242 validation and maintenance.
  • Build and Run Back-End Services:
  • Design, build, and maintain the C# and NET Core, an open-source web development framework | .NET Core APIs, Azure Functions, and database schemas behind our internal engineering applications.
  • Build the service side of integrations with Teamcenter and CAD.
  • Write and tune SQL: schemas, migrations, indexes, and queries for audit and reporting data.
  • Secure services with authentication, authorization, certificate management, and audit logging.
  • Maintain Servers and Deploy:
  • Maintain the application servers, CAD license servers, and Azure resources that host our engineering tools: patching, monitoring, backups, certificates, and capacity.
  • Own deployments across DEV, UAT, and Production for back-end services and for CAA tools on engineering workstations: CI/CD pipelines, release packaging, and rollback plans.
  • Automate routine operations with PowerShell.
  • Debug, Support, and Document:
  • Diagnose crashes and defects in CAA applications using the Visual Studio debugger, NX / CATIA traces, and dump analysis.
  • Debug production issues in back-end services from logs, telemetry, HTTP traces, and database queries, and follow each one to root cause.
  • Write design documentation, deployment runbooks, and user guides, and train support staff.
  • Validate and document every change, so tools used on certificated design data stay controlled and traceable.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or 20+ years as a Developer
  • Experience:

•

  • 8+ years of professional C++ development.
  • 10+ years of CAA V5 RADE development, with applications in production use.
  • 10+ years of back-end development in C# and NET Core, an open-source web development framework | .NET Core or a comparable stack, with services you built and ran in production.
  • 10+ years of aerospace experience, as defined below.
  • Command of the CAA object model: CATBaseUnknown, interfaces and QueryInterface, smart pointers and reference counting, code and data extensions, late typing, and the interface dictionary.
  • Command of the CAA build environment: frameworks, modules, Identity Cards, mk, mkmk, runtime views, and prerequisite management.
  • Interactive command development with CATStateCommand, dialog agents, and CATDlg.
  • Production use of Mechanical Modeler, Part Design or Generative Shape Design, and Product Structure interfaces.
  • Migration of a CAA codebase across at least one CATIA V5 release level.
  • Relational database design and SQL, in MySQL or SQL Server.
  • Hands-on server administration: Windows Server, patching, certificates, monitoring, and backups.
  • Deployment automation: CI/CD pipelines, scripted releases, rollback, and Git-based source control.
  • Production debugging: the Visual Studio debugger for CAA code inside CATIA, and logs, traces, and telemetry for back-end services.
  • Completion of an onsite evaluation at our facility.
  • Aerospace experience means direct work on aircraft, engine, or aerostructure programs at an OEM, a Tier 1 or Tier 2 supplier, or as an embedded engineering-services resource. General manufacturing, automotive, or consulting work that briefly touched an aerospace client does not count.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

•

  • Custom features with Feature Modeler and startup catalogs.
  • Geometric Modeler and topological operators.
  • Drafting and Functional Tolerancing & Annotation interfaces.
  • CAA development for CATIA.
  • Teamcenter–CATIA integration or Teamcenter ITK experience.
  • CATIA Knowledgeware (rules, checks, PowerCopies) and CATIA Automation.
  • NX Automation and Script Development.
  • Azure Functions, App Service, and Azure Database for MySQL in production.
  • CAD license server administration (DSLS, FlexNet).
  • 509 certificates and PKI for document signing or service authentication.
  • Python or PowerShell for build and operations tooling.
  • Work in an FAA Part 21 environment with controlled engineering software tools.
  • This Role Is Not a Fit If:
  • Your NX / CATIA development experience is macros (VBA, CATScript, CATVBA) or Knowledgeware without CAA C++.
  • You have not shipped CAA code that engineers used in production.
  • You write code but have never maintained the servers it runs on or owned its deployments.
  • Your experience is mostly outside aerospace.
  • Selection Process:
  • Application review against the minimum requirements. Incomplete applications are not reviewed.
  • Technical screen (60 minutes) with our developers. Expect to explain your written answers in depth.
  • Onsite evaluation (about 5 hours):
  • Architecture walk-through: whiteboard the design of a CAA application or back-end service you built. No proprietary code is needed.
  • Build and fix: a provided CAA workspace contains a module that will not build or load; find and fix it in CAA V5 RADE.
  • Production incident: diagnose a failing back-end service from its logs and deployment history, restore service, and explain the root cause.
  • Code review: review short CAA C++ and C# samples with planted defects.
  • Interview with the PLM team.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A collaborative, engineering-driven, innovative work environment.
  • The chance to work on cutting-edge aerospace projects with a talented team of professionals.
