Job Overview:

A leadership role responsible for the supervision of the facility, policy implementation, and student staffing while on shift. This role focuses on operational success of the facility and student staff while on shift. Key Responsibilities:

Staff Training & Supervision

  • Directly lead on-the-job training and reminders for all on-shift staff as necessary.
  • Manage shift swaps and coverage for on-shift staff.
  • Coordinate Open Recreation Attendant break rotations and ensure all facility zones are adequately staffed.
  • Identify staff for recognition and participate in interview panels for new candidates.

Hospitality & Customer Service

  • Conduct facility tours to prospective members as requested.
  • Facilitate guest pass and membership renewal sales at the front desk, including guiding patrons through payment and waiver collection.
  • Provide customer service by resolving any escalated patron concerns on the floor in real-time.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for a diverse community of patrons and staff, ensuring that facility assistance and policy enforcement are provided equitably.

Incident & Facility Response

  • Act as the primary point of contact for emergency response and patron escalations. Work with campus partners and on-site staff to respond to emergencies.
  • Perform equipment “out-of-order" tagging and report immediate facility hazards.
  • Complete Building MAnager reports to ensure a seamless handoff between staff and keep leadership informed.
  • Manage facility access, closing and opening procedures as assigned, keeping a hard key and returning it at the end of employment.

Qualifications:

  • To be considered for this position, candidates must be actively enrolled students in good academic standing with the university, and have worked a minimum of one (1) full semester for SUNY Cortland Campus Recreation OR have transferrable leadership experience.
  • Must be CPR/FA/AED certified, or obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Must be Blood Borne Pathogen certified, or obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and the capability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe facility that promotes wellness and inclusion.
