Virtual Sign Language Interpreter | Michigan

A current opening is available for a Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within an educational setting in East Tawas, MI. This position involves providing specialized support to a student requiring American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation during meetings, ensuring effective communication and access to services.

Responsibilities include:

• Delivering ASL interpretation during telehealth meetings for a student with specific communication needs.
• Collaborating with educational staff to support the students Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
• Maintaining clear and accurate communication between the student, school personnel, and service providers.
• Adhering to confidentiality and compliance standards related to educational and health services.

Qualifications and experience:

• Valid LARA License as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI).
• Proficiency in American Sign Language utilized in an educational context.
• Experience providing telehealth interpretation services is preferred.
• Ability to work one hour per week, starting as soon as possible through June.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support the students needs during meetings.

This role is an itinerant contract position serving one student within a school environment. Mileage reimbursement may be available based on travel requirements. Adherence to background checks and credentialing processes will be necessary in accordance with school protocols.
