Stepdown Registered Nurse | Blacksburg, Virginia

Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in stepdown care for a contract assignment. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide high-acuity patient care in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid RN license
• Proven experience in a stepdown or progressive care unit
• Strong assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
• Ability to respond effectively in rapid-changing patient situations
• Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices in acute and progressive care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct, comprehensive nursing care to stepdown unit patients
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in conditions, and communicate information promptly to providers
• Administer medications, manage IV lines, perform assessments, and follow complex care protocols as prescribed
• Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to ensure continuity and consistency of care
• Document observations, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and discharge instructions
• Adhere to all facility policies, state regulations, and infection control standards
