Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Cibolo, TX

Step into a meaningful role supporting students educational journeys as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic school environment near Cibolo, TX. This on-site, contract opportunity runs through May 26, 2027, offering the chance to work full-time across a single campus with students from Pre-K through 8th grade. Youll provide essential communication access to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, ensuring they thrive in an inclusive learning space.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter for the Deaf
• Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) OR
• Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing: BEI I, II (previous system) OR Basic (current system)
• Experience providing sign language interpretation in educational settings
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities
• Current or willing to complete district background check and fingerprinting
• Availability to start as soon as possible

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate communication between students, staff, and parents using American Sign Language (ASL)
• Interpret classroom instruction, school events, and extracurricular activities
• Foster an environment where students feel empowered, included, and supported
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to deliver seamless access to curriculum and activities
• Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to professional standards
• Adapt interpretation techniques to meet students individualized educational needs across a PK-8 caseload

Additional Details:

• Full-time schedule: 37.5 hours per week
• Assignment is limited to one school campus
• Student listings may vary and will be confirmed with your coordinator
• Interviews are scheduled for the last week in October
• Internal prescreen interviews may be conducted to help ensure the perfect match for both school and candidate
