Classroom Assistant | Corning, New York

Make a meaningful impact in education by supporting students in a dynamic classroom environment as a dedicated paraprofessional. This contract position, located near Corning, NY, extends from ASAP through June 30, 2027, with 30 hours a week onsite. As a teachers aide/assistant, you will work 1:1 with students, including those with autism spectrum disorder, wheelchair users, and early childhood learners. An ideal fit will exhibit patience, adaptability, and a passion for student development.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid NY Teachers Assistant Certification (required for assistant roles)
• Experience in preschool, schools, or behavioral settings (required for aides)
• Experience supporting non-verbal students or those using communication devices (such as iPads)
• CNA experience or a healthcare background preferred for working with high school students in wheelchairs
• Comfortable with toileting and changing responsibilities
• Strong de-escalation skills; training is provided
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teaching staff and demonstrate empathy and reliability

Core Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 support for students in various grade levels (PreK, 1st Grade ASD, High School)
• Assist with personal care tasks as needed
• Implement individualized strategies to support student learning, communication, and behavioral goals
• Maintain open communication with classroom teachers and support staff
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom climate
