Original job description

Do you want to become an employee-owner for a mission-driven, growth focused company? Do you approach your work with passion and dedication?

About the Company Sun Light & Power drives the total adoption of clean energy by designing, building, maintaining, and advocating for clean energy solutions so future generations inherit a healthy planet. We are committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience by always innovating and acting with dedication and passion.

We are proud to be certified B-Corporation and this influences our way of working. We make intentional decisions considering sustainability, positive impact on our community and growing profit for the prosperity of our employee-owners. We are a company that strives for a healthy life-work balance and a dog-friendly environment.

Position Description:

This is a role for someone who wants to own marketing, not just execute tasks. You will run marketing for a 90-person company, the only dedicated marketing person, reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, with a clear path to grow into leading the department.

We are looking for a self-starter who takes full ownership. You will set priorities, run campaigns start to finish, and be measured above all on one thing: generating qualified leads for our residential and commercial sales teams. You will also own how Sun Light & Power sounds and looks, both to the outside world and to our own employee-owners, and you will make our Benefit Corp values and employee-ownership a central part of that story.

Responsibilities:

Lead generation

Build and run lead generation programs with clear targets for residential and commercial sales. report metrics on what is working.
Develop and manage technical SEO, on-page optimization, content strategies, and off-page link-building
Report on program metrics, analyze and make recommendations.

External marketing

Own the brand across every channel: website, email, social, print, and advertising.
Plan and run campaigns, then measure results and adjust.
Write and maintain web content, newsletters, press releases, brochures, and sales and proposal materials, including RFP responses.
Manage targeted tradeshows, sponsorships, and community events.
Develop case studies, references, and testimonials from completed projects.
Create a story of clear market differentials that explain why SLP is the most desirable solar design & installation company in the Bay Area.

Internal marketing

Tell the employee-ownership story inside the company with communications that keep employee-owners informed, aligned, and proud of what they build.
Support HR with recruiting and culture with internal campaigns and materials.
Pitch your ideas to management and create business-savvy proposals.

Brand, values, and the B-Corp / ESOP story

Make our Benefit Corp commitments and employee-ownership a clear, consistent thread in how we market.
Translate technical solar and storage work into messages for our commercial and residential audiences.

Operations

Manage vendor and agency relationships, company certifications, and partner co-op marketing dollars.
Keep brand standards consistent across everything the company produces.

Qualifications:

Must have

3 to 5 years of marketing experience, ideally as a generalist who has worn many hats.
A track record of generating leads or demand, not just producing content.
Strong writing, and the ability to turn technical subjects into clear, compelling messages.
Project management discipline and the self-direction to run your own priorities without being closely managed.
Comfort with core marketing tools such as analytics, email platforms, socials, etc.
Genuine alignment with our mission, our Benefit Corp values, and employee ownership.
