Original job description

The Sr. Analyst, FP&A – Business Intelligence builds and maintains the reporting, dashboards, and data tools that support the Corporate FP&A team and the broader finance organization. This role sits on the FP&A team and is primarily focused on turning financial and operational data into timely, accurate, and usable reporting for management. The role also supports core FP&A activities such as monthly reporting, forecasting, and budgeting as a way to build broader finance experience over time.

This is a good fit for someone with a strong data and reporting background who wants to apply those skills in a finance setting at a multi-site manufacturing company. This position is located in our Corporate office located in Irvine near the John Wayne Airport. It is an onsite position 5 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence & Reporting (primary focus)

  • Develop, maintain, and improve dashboards and recurring reports in Power BI (or similar) for finance and operations leadership.
  • Build and maintain the data connections and queries that feed FP&A reporting, pulling from the ERP, Adaptive Planning, and other enterprise systems.
  • Automate recurring reporting processes to reduce manual effort and shorten turnaround times.
  • Translate reporting requests from Finance, Operations, and Sales into clear KPIs and visualizations.
  • Validate data for accuracy and consistency; reconcile reporting outputs back to the financial statements.
  • Maintain documentation of data sources, models, and dashboards.

FP&A Support

  • Assist with monthly reporting packages, including variance analysis and supporting schedules.
  • Support the annual budget and periodic forecast processes through data preparation, template maintenance, and consolidation.
  • Help maintain and improve financial models and reporting templates in Excel and Adaptive Planning.
  • Respond to ad hoc data and analysis requests from the FP&A team and finance leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Clear communicator who can explain data and findings to non-technical business users.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in learning financial planning and analysis; prior FP&A experience is not required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, reporting, or a related analytical role.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or a similar reporting and visualization tool.
  • Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, structured data handling).
  • Basic understanding of financial statements and business performance metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or working with ERP data.
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning or another planning tool.
  • Familiarity with Python or similar tools for data transformation and automation.
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, or financial reporting processes.
