Original job description

Electrical Designer / Project Manager

REMOTE • FULL-TIME / EXEMPT • $90,000–$130,000 BASE

Cash bonus | 401(k) match | 401(k) profit sharing | 100% employer-paid medical & dental

Build Meaningful Projects. Lead with Purpose. Grow with the company.

Great engineering is about more than producing exceptional designs. It is about solving complex problems, building trusted relationships, and delivering solutions that make a lasting impact.

At the company, we take pride in doing things differently. We are a specialized electrical engineering and controls consulting firm committed to technical excellence, thoughtful design, and exceptional client service.

Since 2001, our projects have spanned municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, commercial and industrial facilities, K–12 schools, higher education campuses, institutional and healthcare facilities, and public infrastructure. Our approach emphasizes collaboration, constructability, and long-term value.

We are looking for an Electrical Designer / Project Manager who combines technical design experience, confident project leadership, and a genuine passion for serving clients.

The Opportunity

We seek a proactive, technically capable professional who enjoys balancing electrical design with project leadership. You anticipate challenges, communicate clearly, take initiative, and know that successful projects depend on strong relationships as well as technical expertise.

You will work across electrical engineering projects for K–12 schools, higher education campuses, institutional and healthcare facilities, and water and wastewater facilities, with particular emphasis on power distribution, motor-driven equipment, industrial control systems, lighting, communications, and fire alarm/security systems. You will be a trusted client contact, managing expectations and coordinating quality deliverables.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $90,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
401(k) matching: additional employer contributions, subject to plan terms.
Medical insurance: 100% employer-paid coverage.
Dental insurance: 100% employer-paid coverage.
Additional cash bonus opportunity.
Remote, full-time exempt position.

What You’ll Do

Project Management & Client Relationships

Lead electrical design projects from planning through construction support and completion.
Serve as a primary client contact with proactive communication, responsiveness, and follow-through.
Manage schedules, deliverables, budgets, and internal and external coordination.
Anticipate project risks and develop practical solutions before issues escalate.
Coordinate with engineers, designers, architects, contractors, owners, and other disciplines.
Facilitate meetings, communicate progress, and take ownership of project outcomes.

Electrical Design & Technical Responsibilities

Develop electrical designs for commercial, industrial, municipal, K–12, higher education, institutional, healthcare, and water/wastewater facilities.
Prepare and review drawings, specifications, equipment schedules, and construction documents.
Coordinate with instrumentation, controls, mechanical, and process engineering disciplines.
Apply relevant electrical codes and standards; support design reviews, construction administration, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
Emphasize safety, reliability, maintainability, constructability, and lifecycle value.

What We’re Looking For

We value accountability, curiosity, strong communication, and commitment to excellent work alongside technical knowledge.

Qualifications & Experience

Approximately 5–10+ years of relevant electrical design, engineering, or project management experience.
Commercial, industrial, municipal, or infrastructure electrical project experience.
Ability to manage projects independently and communicate effectively with clients.
Experience preparing and coordinating electrical construction documents.
Working knowledge of applicable electrical codes and design standards.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently and remain accountable in a remote setting.

Experience That Will Help You Stand Out

Municipal water or wastewater electrical design: pump stations, treatment processes, MCCs, VFDs, and industrial motor controls, instrumentation, PLCs, SCADA, and industrial automation systems.
Institutional, K-12, and healthcare design.
Construction experience (i.e. “hands on”)
AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable design software.
Using Artificial Intelligence and automation tools (Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Revit Dynamo, Auto Lisp, Visual Basic for Applications)
Project leadership from concept through construction and commissioning.
PE licensure or EIT certification.

Professional licensure is welcomed but not required. Experienced designers with technical expertise, project leadership, and strong client relationships are encouraged to apply.

The Qualities That Matter Most

Proactive. You see what needs to happen next and take initiative.

Exceptional communicator. You build trust through responsiveness, transparency, and consistency.

Accountable. You take pride in quality and follow through on commitments.

Problem solver. You enjoy complex challenges and practical solutions.

Collaborative. You listen, share ideas, and work well across disciplines.

Long-term minded. You value relationships, growth, and a strong team culture.

Curious. Intellectual curiosity is hallmark of a thoughtful engineer.

Why Join the company?

At the company, talented people have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact without getting lost in a large corporate environment. We value technical excellence, professional development, collaboration, and long-term relationships.

Meaningful infrastructure projects serving communities.
Ownership of projects and direct client relationships.
A collaborative culture that values employee retention.
Mentoring, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
Remote flexibility with professional autonomy.
Visible influence on the company’s continued success.

Ready to Make an Impact?

If you enjoy solving complex problems, building meaningful client relationships, and taking ownership of your work, we would love to connect. Whether your background is industrial electrical design, commercial engineering, motor controls, or water and wastewater infrastructure, we are interested in what you can bring to the company.

Join the company and help deliver thoughtful engineering solutions that make a lasting difference.
