WE DO NOT OFFER RELOCATION ASSISTANCE Status-US Citizen, OPT EAD, GCard, H4 EAD Duration: 2 Months (Approximately 6-Week Project) Employment Type: Contract Work Arrangement: Onsite-4 Days per Week
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Senior Snowflake Data Engineer for a short-term engagement supporting a targeted enterprise data-sharing initiative between Property & Casualty (P&C) First Line of Defense (FLOD) and Second Line of Defense (SLOD).
This resource will be responsible for developing curated Snowflake datasets, implementing secure data-sharing capabilities, establishing group-based access controls, and validating data quality and permissions. The objective is to make approved first-line operational data accessible and usable for proactive second-line risk monitoring.
Ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on Snowflake development experience, advanced SQL skills, and a solid understanding of enterprise data architecture, identity and access management, and governed data-sharing environments. This is a focused, hands-on delivery project requiring someone who can independently coordinate technical implementation from discovery through validation and final handoff.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience developing and implementing solutions using Snowflake.
- Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, transformations, views, and data validation.
- Experience implementing Snowflake data sharing, including secure data access and sharing configurations.
- Knowledge of Snowflake role-based access control (RBAC), roles, privileges, and access management.
- Experience with Active Directory (AD) security groups, enterprise identity provisioning, and Snowflake role integration.
- Strong understanding of relational data modeling, cross-schema integration, dataset grain, and join cardinality.
- Experience with exploratory data analysis, data profiling, and requirements gathering.
- Knowledge of data quality testing, source-to-target mapping, and data reconciliation.
- Experience documenting data lineage, technical data contracts, data definitions, and data-sharing processes.
- Familiarity with Git or other Git-based version control tools.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate technical delivery across business, governance, and IT teams.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with insurance, financial services, banking, or property and casualty operational data.
- Experience supporting enterprise risk management, compliance, or risk-monitoring initiatives.
- Background working within highly governed enterprise data environments.
- Experience coordinating data access approvals and working with business owners, data stewards, and enterprise security teams.
Project Deliverables
The successful contractor will be responsible for delivering:
Data Discovery: Identification of approved data sources, ownership, definitions, and permitted usage.
Curated Snowflake Datasets: Development of Snowflake views integrating selected tables across databases and schemas.
Secure Data Sharing: Implementation and documentation of approved data-sharing arrangements.
Group-Based Access: Coordination of AD security groups, Snowflake role mapping, membership approvals, and least-privilege permissions.
Data Validation: Reconciliation to source records, data quality testing, refresh validation, and access testing.
Technical Handoff: Version-controlled SQL, repeatable monitoring queries, technical documentation, and
a support runbook.
What Success Looks Like
At the completion of the engagement, authorized Second Line of Defense users will be able to securely access approved First Line of Defense datasets through group-based permissions and execute repeatable risk-monitoring queries.
All required data reconciliations, access tests, approvals, business definitions, refresh expectations, and support ownership must be documented.
Important: This is a narrowly scoped implementation project, not an enterprise-wide modernization effort. The contractor must be comfortable taking ownership of hands-on technical delivery while coordinating approvals and privileged access activities with the appropriate teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business owners and data stewards to identify relevant data sources, understand existing usage, and confirm data definitions, ownership, and permitted use.
- Perform exploratory data discovery, profiling, and requirements analysis to support selected risk-monitoring use cases.
- Develop and maintain curated Snowflake views integrating data across multiple databases and schemas.
- Apply advanced SQL to transform, join, reconcile, and validate complex datasets.
- Implement approved Snowflake data-sharing arrangements between designated business and risk-monitoring teams.
- Establish and document technical data contracts, data lineage, business definitions, transformations, and sharing requirements.
- Coordinate the creation and configuration of Active Directory (AD) security groups through established enterprise processes.
- Support identity and access provisioning by coordinating AD group membership, Snowflake role mapping, and permission assignments.
- Apply role-based access control (RBAC) and least-privilege security principles to ensure users can access only approved datasets.
- Perform data quality testing, source-to-target reconciliation, and validation of dataset refresh behavior.
- Test authorized and restricted access, including access removal and permission changes.
- Maintain Git-based version control for SQL scripts, validation tests, and technical documentation.
- Deliver repeatable risk-monitoring queries and a technical support runbook documenting ownership, limitations, refresh expectations, and future requirements.
- Coordinate with business owners, governance teams, data stewards, and enterprise access administrators to complete the pilot.
