Creating an Incredible Work Environment:

StrataTech Education Group and our schools, Tulsa Welding School, and The Refrigeration School Inc, exist to change people's lives and create opportunities that empower them to build a life they're proud of -- for themselves, their families, and their communities. This applies as much to students as it does to faculty and staff. We are unified in our commitment to change lives through a collaborative, inclusive community that encourages excellence within each and every one of us.

We value diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), recognizing the importance of creating a culture that embraces and celebrates individuals from all backgrounds and perspectives. This commitment further strengthens our mission to change lives and build a vibrant community.

StrataTech is a force for good in the world by creating opportunities for people to find meaning, purpose, creativity, and financial stability. We espouse a conscious capitalist ethos that exists within our economic system but balances it with an ethical framework and the belief that life - and business - is about making a positive impact.

We strive to make a positive and sustainable impact on the lives and communities (and world) we serve by creating employment opportunities both internally and in the trades that we train students for. Everyone has the potential to positively impact the world and we communicate that to our faculty, staff, and students.

We are laser focused on student success by focusing on organizational and operational improvements, a dedication to excellence in training programs, innovation and technology aligning industry transformations, and a culture built on human compassion, care, and service. Together, we are on fire to inspire and collectively strive to make a true impact in the lives of others.

Position Summary:

The B2B Welding Instructor delivers employer-sponsored welding and fabrication training to adult learners at client facilities and StrataTech campuses. The Instructor is accountable for delivering assigned curriculum as designed, on schedule, and to standard; for student progress and outcomes, for the safe and professional operation of the instructional environment, and for representing StrataTech professionally in every interaction on client property and with client personnel.

The B2B Welding Instructor operates within a structured curriculum framework developed by the B2B team and is the most direct point of contact between StrataTech and the students in the program. The quality of the instruction, the learning environment, and the Instructor's professional conduct are visible to the client every day and are a primary measure of StrataTech's performance as an enterprise training partner.

Responsibilities:

Instruction and Curriculum Delivery

  • Deliver the assigned welding curriculum in classroom, lab, and online settings with technical accuracy and instructional clarity.
  • Follow the curriculum as designed. Content is not substituted, added, or modified without approval from the Senior Director, Enterprise Training Operations.
  • Adapt delivery style to meet the needs of adult learners with varying levels of prior welding experience without compromising technical content or pacing.
  • Prepare for each session in advance and arrive ready to instruct, whether virtually or in the lab environment.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and student progress documentation throughout each cohort.
  • Complete all required reporting, documentation, and administrative requirements accurately and on time.

Student Engagement and Outcomes

  • Hold students to the standard the program requires.
  • Create a learning environment that is structured, respectful, and demanding.
  • Manage classroom and lab conduct consistently. Address disruption or disengagement directly and professionally, and escalate when the situation requires it.
  • Identify struggling students and intervene early rather than waiting for the issue to surface at a formal evaluation.
  • Provide students with clear, actionable feedback throughout the program, not only at formal evaluation points.
  • Document and report student outcomes and provide grades for submitted work in a timely manner and at the conclusion of each cohort.

Safety and Instructional Environment

  • Set up and prepare the welding lab for each session so that equipment is operational, materials are staged, and the space is organized before students arrive.
  • Inspect welding equipment, PPE, ventilation, and fire suppression systems before each session and report deficiencies immediately.
  • Enforce all applicable safety protocols, PPE requirements, and regulatory standards - including those governing welding fumes, arc flash, compressed gases, and hot work - without exception.
  • Handle and dispose of waste, expended consumables, and hazardous materials properly between cohorts in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Return equipment to its designated location after each use, and reset the instructional environment to full operational condition at the conclusion of each cohort.
  • Maintain the instructional environment to a professional standard at all times, not only when observed.

Professional Conduct and Client Representation

  • Conduct yourself as a representative of StrataTech in every interaction on client property and on StrataTech campuses, including common areas.
  • Comply with client site policies, including security, access, and safety requirements.
  • Communicate with client personnel professionally and within the scope of your role. Questions or concerns that exceed that scope are escalated promptly to the Senior Director of Enterprise Training Operations.
  • Communicate scheduling needs, equipment issues, and student concerns proactively. Raise issues with context and a recommended course of action.
  • Pass feedback from students or client personnel to the Senior Director, Enterprise Training Operations promptly and accurately.
  • Keep written communication with students, client personnel, and StrataTech leadership clear, professional, and accurate.

Attendance and Reliability

  • Be on time and ready to instruct for every scheduled session.
  • Communicate absences and schedule conflicts as early as possible.
  • Travel to other client sites or campuses as assigned.

Continuous Development

  • Stay current on welding technology, codes, and standards applicable to the assigned program and maintain any certifications or credentials required for the role.
  • Seek feedback on instructional delivery and apply it.
  • Participate in required training, observations, and calibration activities.
  • Support the onboarding of new instructors when asked.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on field experience in welding, fabrication, or a closely related trades discipline.
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following processes: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and work from welding symbols, blueprints, and weld procedure specifications (WPS).
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical content clearly to adult learners with varying levels of prior experience.
  • Consistent track record of professional conduct in a field or structured work environment.
  • Ability to manage a classroom or lab setting and hold students to a defined standard.
  • Comfortable working in a client-facing environment and representing an organization professionally.
  • Proficiency with basic digital tools, including documentation platforms and learning management systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any certifications or credentials required for the assigned program.
  • Ability to travel to client sites and other campuses as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE) credential.
  • Experience welding to AWS D1.1 Structural Steel or ASME Section IX code standards.
  • Prior instructional or training delivery experience in a technical, industrial, or workforce development setting.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and structured curriculum delivery.
  • Experience in a B2B, corporate, or enterprise training environment.
  • Exposure to multiple welding processes and positions beyond a single primary specialty.
  • Experience with learning management systems.

People Responsibilities:

Physical Environment:

  • Work is performed in classroom, lab, shop, and client facility environments, which may include varying temperatures, noise, welding fumes, and other conditions typical of an industrial welding or training setting.
  • Incumbent may be required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist, and reach for extended periods.
  • Incumbent will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable to the work environment, including welding helmet, gloves, and flame-resistant clothing.
  • Incumbent may sit for periods of time at a desk or computer terminal and use a computer, telephone, and other standard office or instructional equipment.
