Original job description
GREAT STORIES START WITH EXTRAORDINARY PEOPLE.
We’re bringing together exceptional creative talent to tell the stories of people shaping the future. Work alongside people who raise your standards, champion your ideas, and give you room to do the best work of your career.
Story inspires science. Science makes story real.
YOUR STORY
We're looking for a Creative Associate who can turn ideas into reality, fast. You'll work directly with Jason Carman, our founder, across both his companies Story and Wizard. Jason has more ideas than hands. Your job is to get those ideas out of his head and into the world: a deck by the end of the day, a video brief for the team, a social media campaign or post set up and then launched.
You'll be Jason's creative multi-tool. One day you're in a string of meetings with him, capturing what matters and tracking every creative deliverable across both companies. The next, you're probing him with questions until a half-formed idea becomes a clear pitch, then finding the right people to make it happen and seeing it through every round of notes to the finish. When Jason isn't in the room, you're his creative eyes, ears, and brain.
It's also not for the faint of heart. If you dislike multitasking, this isn't for you. If holding a dozen projects in your head at once sounds like fun, read on.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Make the decks. Turn rough thinking into sharp, beautiful decks, fast, using AI-assisted design tools like Claude Design and Figma.
- Pull ideas out of Jason's head. Probe with questions and ideas until the thinking is clear, then capture it in a deck, a brief, or a plan.
- Get ideas moving. For any idea, whether it's a video, a campaign, or anything else, set it up, find the team, execute, handle notes, and close it out.
- Track every creative deliverable. Keep a clear view of what's in flight across Story and Wizard, who owns it, and what's next.
- Be Jason's right hand in the room. Join meetings across projects, capture what matters, and follow through so nothing drops.
- Hold the context. Keep many projects, people, and threads in your head at once, and connect the dots between them.
YOU'RE THE RIGHT PERSON IF
- You're early in your career but ready to take on far more than your title suggests. Exceptional work matters more to us than years on a resume.
- You work extremely hard and learn incredibly fast.
- You genuinely believe in what Story and Wizard are building. This will be your life's work while you're here.
- You love art, movies, design, and business.
- You have strong taste, and you can judge creative work from several perspectives.
- You're a good writer with real opinions about copy, and you understand marketing.
- You're a people person who's at ease with engineers, creatives, and everyone in between.
- You're comfortable with ambiguity and love juggling many things at once.
- You're fluent in AI tools, especially Claude Design, and comfortable in Figma.
- You love mood boards, Pinterest, and collecting references.
- This isn't a video editing role, though editing experience is a plus. You'll mostly create with Wizard, which makes that part easy.
WHAT SETS YOU APART
You're a force multiplier. You make the person you work with faster and better. Give you a messy idea in the morning and there's a clear, beautiful deck by the end of the day.
You don't wait for permission. You don't wait on a designer, an editor, or a producer to get something started. You pick up the tools, make a first version, and bring in help when it's needed.
You have taste, and opinions to match. You can tell good creative from great, explain why, and still see it from the audience's point of view, not just your own.
You're relentlessly optimistic. You bring energy to every meeting and treat a hard problem as a fun one.
You close the loop. You remember what was promised, follow up without being asked, and see every project through to the finish.
HOW TO APPLY
Share a portfolio, decks, or other work that shows your taste and how you think. A strong body of work counts more than years of experience. Finalists will complete a short work sample: we'll hand you a raw brain dump and ask for a deck by the end of the day.
