Original job description

Data Analyst Structure Tone | New Jersey | Full-time About the Role Structure Tone is one of the largest construction management and general contracting firms in the country. We are hiring a Data Analyst to support the entire New Jersey office through data management, reporting, analytics, Google-platform development, AI agent development, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and process automation. You will work directly with teams across the New Jersey office to understand how the work actually gets done, then turn that understanding into Power BI dashboards, curated BigQuery data sets, and AI agents that reduce manual effort across departmental workflows. This role sits within the NJ office and will use the shared STO Building Group data platform and approved enterprise tools. The analyst will collaborate with the central Data and Analytics team to ensure NJ office solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, integration, and data governance standards. Successful solutions developed for the NJ office may be adapted for broader use across STO Building Group.

Key Responsibilities

Business Partnership & Requirements

  • Support the entire New Jersey office in gathering requirements across departments; document existing workflows and help establish measurable success criteria.
  • Assist in translating established processes and business requirements across the entire New Jersey office into clear specifications for reports, data sets, AI agents, and automations.
  • Partner with the enterprise Data Engineering team to enable onboarding of new data source systems when required data is not yet available on the platform.
  • Document what you build and support the people who use it.

Data Access & Preparation (Google Cloud / BigQuery)

  • Write, optimize, and document SQL queries and views in BigQuery to produce reporting-ready data sets.
  • Validate data quality and reconcile reporting outputs against source systems.
  • Use Python for data exploration, transformation, analysis, and lightweight automation.
  • Follow the naming, access, and governance standards set by the Data & Analytics team.

Reporting & Analytics (Power BI)

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for teams across the New Jersey office, including semantic data modeling, Power Query transformations, and DAX measure development.
  • Develop reporting across NJ office departments on business trends, costs, project performance, and operational outcomes.
  • Maintain and enhance benchmarking data sets and comparable project metrics to support business needs across the NJ office.
  • Support adoption through training, reporting standards, and day-to-day user support.

AI Agents & Process Automation

  • Prototype and test AI agents for use cases across the NJ office, such as document intake and summarization, document review, information comparison, and workflow support.
  • Help develop evaluation criteria for AI agent outputs and test solutions against approved scenarios across NJ office departments, documenting accuracy, reliability, security, and data governance concerns before rollout.
  • Use Microsoft 365 Copilot and build Power Automate workflows to support office-wide tasks, connect documents, data, and dashboards, and reduce recurring manual effort.
  • Collaborate with the Data & Analytics team on deployment, security review, and the support model for anything moving from prototype to production.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1–3 years of experience in a data analytics, BI developer, or analytics engineering role.
  • Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregation, CTEs, and query tuning, with the ability to work independently against a cloud data warehouse.
  • Demonstrated Power BI experience, including data modeling, Power Query, DAX, and dashboards for business users.
  • Working knowledge of Python for data transformation and analysis (pandas or equivalent).
  • Hands-on exposure to a cloud data platform, ideally Google Cloud and BigQuery.
  • Proven ability to gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into working solutions.
  • Comfort working through evolving requirements, sound judgment about when to clarify requirements versus when to proceed, and a habit of documenting decisions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience building or evaluating LLM-based agents (Gemini Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable), including prompt design and output evaluation.
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 Copilot and developing Power Automate workflows.
  • Exposure to predictive modeling, including regression, classification, or forecasting, applied to business problems across the NJ office, such as cost escalation or weather impact.
  • Version control (Git) and a basic understanding of orchestration tools such as Airflow / Cloud Composer.
  • Familiarity with construction cost structures, CSI divisions, project schedules or software used across construction business functions.
  • Construction, engineering, real estate, or professional services industry background.

Salary: $80K - $95K Compensation: In addition to base pay, eligible for discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
