About Stepful:
Stepful is a workforce platform redefining how America's largest health systems build, train, and retain their talent. Since our founding in 2021, Stepful’s trained over 32,000 practice-ready healthcare workers.
Layering onto our successful direct-to-consumer training, Stepful partners with leading healthcare institutions to address the growing national shortage of healthcare workers. We’re improving access to quality healthcare for everyone, everywhere, and improving access to healthcare career ladders for those who need them most.
Our students form the talent pipelines for major employers such as NY-Presbyterian, Mt. Sinai, HCA, Providence, CVS, and Walgreens. We have partnerships with half of the top 10 health systems in the US and are in process with many more.
Stepful is backed by Y Combinator, Reach Capital, and AlleyCorp, with a recent $55M Series C led by Oak HC/FT https://www.stepful.com/post/stepful-announces-55m-series-c-to-scale-its-ai-powered-training-platform-across-the-healthcare-workforce. Our values:
We credit much of our success to our exceptional team. We’re looking for mission-driven builders who thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, and embody our four core values:
- Care first: We do whatever it takes for our students to succeed.
- Learn quickly: We test, learn with data, and iterate.
- Build together: We win when we rely on each other.
- Own it: We show up, take initiative, and show pride.
The opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced nursing education leader to help bring Stepful’s nursing programs to Indiana on a part-time contract basis. This is a high-impact role for someone who is passionate about healthcare education and committed to expanding access to nursing careers for working adults.
You’ll partner closely with our team to adapt an established, proven program to Indiana’s requirements, work with the Indiana State Board of Nursing, and build the clinical partnerships and learning environment that set students up for success.
This is a 1099 contract role that will require around 10 hours per week, mostly Zoom time and independent work. As we get closer to launch, the weekly hours will increase, and we’re open to this evolving into a full-time position as the program grows.
This role will require some in-person presence in the Bedford, Indiana area, including at our simulation lab and at clinical partner sites, though much of the work at this stage can be done remotely through virtual meetings and self-directed project work.
If you are driven by the opportunity to shape the future of nursing education and make a meaningful difference in students’ lives, we’d love to hear from you!
What you'll do:
Initial Focus:
- Support the launch of a new nursing program - audit our existing practical nursing program for Indiana-specific compliance requirements and serve as the subject matter expert for our learning team on Indiana-specific program adjustments.
- Lead the Board of Nursing application - compile and work on the Indiana State Board of Nursing application with the Dean of Nursing's supervision, including informal pre-conversations with Board members. This is a hands-on role in the application process, and your name will be on it.
- Build clinical partnerships - conduct outreach to clinical sites in the Bedford area to secure affiliation agreements, and visit facilities to conduct walkthroughs and build relationships.
- Set up the simulation lab - oversee the setup of our simulation lab in Bedford, Indiana.
- Convene the advisory board - oversee advisory board meetings for the program.
As the program approaches launch, the scope will expand to include:
- Teach and facilitate learning - carry a teaching load that may include didactic instruction, skills lab facilitation (in-person), and clinical education (in-person), with flexibility across modalities as program needs evolve.
- Oversee nursing curriculum - collaborate with internal teams to review, refine, and continuously improve content across PN and RN program curriculum.
- Manage program enrollment - support program enrollment, including recruitment, admissions, orientation, and registration processes.
- Support student success - oversee student progress and performance, including grading, academic advising, and program completion.
- Build and lead the team - support the hiring process, train, and supervise a team of adjunct instructors, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Partner with enterprise clients - serve as a key point of contact for Stepful’s enterprise healthcare partners in Ohio, supporting program alignment and ongoing relationship management.
- Manage resources responsibly - develop and oversee program budgets and operational resources.
- Ensure regulatory compliance - serve as a primary point of contact with the Ohio Board of Nursing, managing ongoing compliance and regulatory requirements for Stepful's nursing programs in the state of Ohio.
- Drive program quality - conduct ongoing program evaluation and assessment, using data to make recommendations for improvement and ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain scheduling flexibility - some evening and weekend obligations are required.
What you'll bring:
- Current, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in Indiana (or eligibility to obtain, if you’re licensed in another state)
- A master's degree in nursing
- 5+ years of RN nursing practice experience
- 2+ years experience as a faculty member with a registered nursing education program
- Demonstrated ability to teach across modalities - didactic, skills lab, and clinical settings
- Experience with Laerdal manikins or similar simulation technology
- Familiarity with accreditation and regulatory compliance for nursing programs, including Indiana Board of Nursing requirements
- Experience engaging with external partners, clinical sites, or employer stakeholders - a collaborative, relationship-oriented approach is a plus
- Strong ability to work cross-functionally with faculty, staff, students, and institutional partners
Interview Process:
- Introductory call with Talent Acquisition
- Interview with Hiring Manager
- Take-Home Assignment
