Original job description
Job Description:
Every connected Stellantis vehicle generates data that helps us understand how it's performing in the real world. You'll join the Remote Vehicle Management (REVM) team, which builds and supports the on-vehicle data collection application and the AWS cloud infrastructure behind it.
This role is for a recent graduate who has a strong interest in the intersection of automotive and software technology and wants to build a career in automotive. If you're the kind of person who digs into why something broke and won't let it go until it's fixed, you'll fit right in. You'll write production code early, learn from experienced engineers, and see your code running in vehicles on the road around the world.
REVM owns the full path of vehicle data: the application that collects it on the vehicle, and the cloud services that ingest, process and send it off. We are the sole connected vehicle data collection strategy for Stellantis globally.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the on-vehicle data collection application and how it integrates with the cloud
- Help triage and debug issues from vehicle launches and the field, tracing a problem from the vehicle to the cloud
- Build automation, monitoring and debugging tools that make the whole team faster
- Practice test-driven development and agile delivery, and take part in code reviews and defect analysis
- Work with other engineers to help provide data collection solutions.
Basic Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in software engineering or automotive domain.
- Programming experience in at least one of Python, Java, C/C++ or JavaScript, from coursework, internships, co-ops, research or personal projects
- A solid grasp of data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design
- Familiarity with Git and with writing tests for your code
- Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort asking questions when you're stuck
- A genuine passion for cars and automotive technology, and a desire to build your career in the industry
- A love of problem solving: you enjoy taking an unclear issue, forming a theory, and testing it until you find the root cause
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to AWS or another cloud platform, APIs, microservices or Docker
- Projects involving distributed systems, streaming data, IoT, embedded or real-time software
- Exposure to CAN bus, vehicle diagnostics or telematics
- Hands-on automotive experience, such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, EcoCAR or other student vehicle teams, or working on your own car
- Experience with build and CI tools such as Gradle, Maven, Jenkins or TeamCity, or with Jira
