About STC
STC is a science, sensors, and systems company founded in 1979. We continually expand our Earth and Space Sciences support capabilities to NASA, NOAA, DoD, and other Federal and State agencies. Our staff support many of the operational missions that monitor the heartbeat of our planet through a growing number of Earth Observing System of Systems platforms and direct field research. We also research and investigate leading-edge observing technologies and assist in their integration into operations.
STC offers competitive benefits to include health, dental, vision, FSA, life, disability, 401K (matching), tuition reimbursement, bonus/incentive programs, and various other plans.

The EOSDIS Evolution and Development (EED) program supports NASA's Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) in enabling global, open access to critical Earth observation data. STC is growing its EED support team and is seeking a Software Engineer to join the cloud-native application development team supporting the EED program.
The Software Engineer contributes to feature development within the Platform or Integration & Analysis EED program train, working under the guidance of Senior and Principal engineers. This role offers the opportunity to develop a full-stack AWS and web development skill set while contributing to mission-critical earth science data systems.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain web application features using modern languages and frameworks (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java).
• Build and consume RESTful APIs for earth science data access and integration with platform services.
• Leverage AWS cloud services (Lambda, S3, API Gateway) to deliver cloud-native solutions.
• Write and maintain automated unit and integration tests in support of CI/CD pipelines.
• Contribute to code reviews, bug fixes, and sprint deliverables in a collaborative Agile team environment.
• Work closely with Senior and Principal engineers to develop solutions aligned with program architecture and standards.
• Participate in Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) planning events, Program Increment (PI) planning, sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and technical reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within a large, multi-team Agile environment to deliver cloud-native earth science data capabilities on schedule.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipeline automation, code review, testing, and documentation in accordance with program standards.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• Proficiency in at least one modern language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Java)
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services
• Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows
• Agile/Scrum team experience
Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience with React, Node.js, or other modern frontend/backend frameworks
• Familiarity with AWS serverless services (Lambda, S3, API Gateway)
• Experience writing automated unit or integration tests
• Exposure to scientific or earth science data processing systems
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident / Green Card holder.
