About STC
STC is a science, sensors, and systems company founded in 1979. We continually expand our Earth and Space Sciences support capabilities to NASA, NOAA, DoD, and other Federal and State agencies. Our staff support many of the operational missions that monitor the heartbeat of our planet through a growing number of Earth Observing System of Systems platforms and direct field research. We also research and investigate leading-edge observing technologies and assist in their integration into operations.
STC offers competitive benefits to include health, dental, vision, FSA, life, disability, 401K (matching), tuition reimbursement, bonus/incentive programs, and various other plans.
Overview
The EOSDIS Evolution and Development (EED) program supports NASA's Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) in enabling global, open access to critical Earth observation data. STC is seeking an experienced Product Owner to support the day-to-day operations and development of an EED program team, working in a hybrid SAFe Agile and waterfall delivery environment with significant involvement in ongoing DevSecOps sustainment.
The EED Program Product Owner collaborates with an exceptional team of engineers and mission-focused professionals supporting NASA's earth science data mission. This is a remote position with occasional travel for quarterly planning and customer engagements.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead day-to-day activities for the team, including triage and prioritization of user support requests, operational sustainment tasks, and new development work.
• Identify opportunities to enhance the sustainability, reliability, and scalability of services; drive operational improvements through coordinated team action.
• Implement and refine team processes that improve customer satisfaction, communication transparency, and operational accountability.
• Oversee and ensure timely execution of recurring system maintenance and operational tasks.
• Direct and support investigation, communication, and resolution activities during system health events or service interruptions.
• Represent product goals, roadmap priorities, and operational commitments to user communities, developers, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate development and operational workflows across both SAFe Agile (sprints, PI planning, backlog refinement) and waterfall delivery tracks.
• Collaborate closely with NASA stakeholders to clarify requirements, manage expectations, and ensure alignment with mission needs.
Job Requirements
• 5+ years' experience leading or managing technical operations or software sustainment teams in a cloud-based DevSecOps environment
• Demonstrated ability to excel in a high-demand, high-visibility operational environment with strict SLA commitments
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven effectiveness engaging both technical users and organizational leadership
• 3+ years' experience implementing cloud-based operational workflows, CI/CD pipelines, or DevSecOps monitoring frameworks
• Solid understanding of AWS application architecture patterns including serverless, microservices, and event-driven designs
• Highly motivated, collaborative team member comfortable with open communication, cross-team alignment, and shared problem-solving
• Must be a US Citizen
Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle for large, complex, n-tier applications
• AWS certification (Solutions Architect or Developer)
• SAFe POPM, Scrum Master, or equivalent Agile certification
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident / Green Card holder.
