Original job description

Description Build Confidence. Ship Quality. Make an Impact.

Join Stampin' Up! as a Junior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) At Stampin' Up!, we're known for helping people create meaningful connections through creativity. Behind every order, every subscription, every reward, and every crafting experience is technology built by passionate people who care deeply about delivering exceptional experiences. We're looking for a Junior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who is curious, collaborative, and excited to grow. This isn't a traditional QA role. Here, you'll be a software engineer who happens to focus on testing, helping us build quality directly into the products our demonstrators and customers rely on every day. If you love solving puzzles, asking questions, digging into data, and figuring out how things really work, we'd love to meet you.

A Little About Us At Stampin' Up!, our mission goes beyond creating products. We create opportunities for people to connect, share, and build communities around creativity. Our culture is rooted in four core values:

We Care About People First
We Act With Courage
We Better Our Best
We Own It

We're a company that believes great work happens when talented people feel supported, trusted, and empowered to grow. We celebrate creativity in all forms, whether that's designing a beautiful handmade card or building a better automated testing framework.

What You'll Do You'll be part of a small, highly collaborative team where quality isn't something inspected at the end. It's built in from the beginning. As an SDET, you'll be embedded with the development team, not a separate QA department. You'll work side-by-side with developers, business analysts, and product owners to ensure quality is part of every conversation. You'll also help us continue our evolution from manual testing to automation-first quality practices. In this role, you'll help build the automated tests that decide whether a release ships, while still applying critical thinking and exploratory testing where automation isn't the best solution. You'll gain exposure to the full business, including opportunities to learn a real e-commerce business end to end: ordering, payments, subscriptions and commissions. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who enjoys learning, asks thoughtful questions, and isn't afraid to tackle a large system one piece at a time.

What Success Looks Like

The people who thrive here tend to be:

Curious enough to investigate beyond the first answer
Comfortable asking questions and learning from others
Excited by both technical challenges and business problems
Strong communicators who can build trust with technical and non-technical partners
Accountable and proactive rather than waiting for direction
Adaptable and eager to learn new tools, technologies, and ways of working
Positive team players who contribute to a healthy, collaborative culture

Key Responsibilities

Demonstrate Stampin' Up!'s core values in your daily work and interactions
Partner closely with developers, business analysts, and product owners to understand requirements and identify quality risks early
Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for web applications, APIs, and backend services
Write SQL queries to validate business processes, investigate defects, and verify data integrity
Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and improve test reliability and coverage
Use AI tools daily to write tests, investigate failures and speed up your work
Evaluate and validate AI-generated code and recommendations with sound engineering judgment
Perform exploratory and manual testing when automation isn't practical or sufficient
Investigate production issues, analyze logs, and help identify root causes
Document test results, defects, and quality risks using Azure DevOps and related tools
Take ownership of testing efforts and continuously improve team processes and automation capabilities
Contribute to software development projects as needed through the same engineering and code review process as the rest of the team

Requirements

What You'll Need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
3+ years of experience in software testing, test automation, or software development involving automated testing
Experience building and maintaining automated tests with frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, or Cypress
Proficiency in at least one programming language such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, or C#
Strong SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, troubleshooting, and data validation
Experience testing REST APIs and understanding modern integration patterns
Familiarity with Git, pull requests, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows
Ability to distinguish application issues from test failures or environment issues
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Clear verbal and written communication skills

Bonus Points If You Have

Experience with Playwright and TypeScript
Experience with Azure DevOps
Experience testing .NET applications and Microsoft SQL Server
Experience with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar tools
Experience validating financial calculations, commissions, or high-volume data processes
Experience supporting e-commerce, payment processing, or order management systems
Experience with Application Insights, logging tools, and troubleshooting distributed systems
Experience with accessibility, performance testing, or test data management
Experience contributing production code, not just test code
Experience helping improve engineering tooling or automation frameworks

A Few Honest Challenges We're committed to helping team members grow, and we believe transparency helps everyone succeed. In this role, you'll be learning and contributing within a large, interconnected system. The products support both our e-commerce experience and the internal systems that drive ordering, commissions, subscriptions, and business operations. Much of the evidence for whether something is working correctly lives in the data, so SQL won't be an occasional tool. You'll use it regularly. You'll also balance automation and hands-on testing. Not everything should be automated, and part of your success will be learning when each approach makes the most sense. Most importantly, you'll need the confidence to ask questions, seek feedback, and learn continuously. Nobody masters everything on day one.

Why You'll Love Working Here Besides working with incredible people?

We've got perks.

A wicked-awesome benefits package (seriously, compare it)
A Friday dress code every day of the week. Dust off those jeans.
Extreme crafting experiences (totally optional, but surprisingly fun)
Generous paid time off because work-life balance matters
Tuition assistance to support your career growth
401(k) program with company match
A collaborative culture where your ideas matter
Opportunities to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact

Ready to Join Us? If you're excited about automation, quality engineering, AI-assisted development, and solving real business problems alongside great people, we'd love to hear from you. Bring your curiosity. Bring your problem-solving skills. Bring your willingness to learn. We'll help you build the rest.

Apply today and help us create experiences that inspire creativity and connection around the world.
