Machine Operator

Ensure quality and production standards are maintained while operating machines safely. Utilize shop math skills to lay out, set up, and machine manufacturing parts and components. Meet production targets within the designated timeframe with minimal supervision.

Additional Functions:

• Read blueprints.
• Perform setups for assigned work cells.

(Additional Functions): Individuals in this classification possess high expertise and experience in a specified production area, driven by experience and self-motivation.

• Set up all in-house fab shop machines (excluding CNC program writing).
• Assist lead and supervisor in production scheduling.
• Train fab machine operators in all pay grades.
• Fill in various positions within the fab department as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow oral and written directions in English.
• Pay close attention to detail.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Prioritize tasks to meet production goals as per assigned department.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues.
• Adhere to safety and housekeeping standards.
• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops and guides based on specified length.
• Align workpieces against stops or layout marks.
• Monitor machine operation for defects or malfunctions.
• Measure workpiece dimensions for accuracy.
• Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces.
• Produce parts according to quality standards.
• Utilize and set up safety equipment in the assigned work center.
• Reproduce all operations within acceptable quality and time standards.
• Perform other required duties and responsibilities.
• Handle hazardous waste following proper procedures.
• Maintain satellite and storage containers in a closed position when not adding or removing waste.
• Familiarity with Hazardous Waste Contingency Plan.
• Knowledge of spill response procedures and evacuation routes.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities (A Level):

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Proficiently use specific hand and power tools.
• Possess proficiency in all areas of the department.
