Original job description

Spreetail propels brands to increase their ecommerce market share across the globe while improving their operational costs. Learn how we are building one of the fastest-growing ecommerce companies in history: www.spreetail.com.

Spreetail is seeking an EHS Manager Safety Manager in our Greenwood, Indiana FC to own both the strategy and the hands-on execution of safety programs across our fulfillment center, building a proactive safety culture where compliance is lived every day, not just documented. This is an onsite role, five days per week, and a true individual contributor position for someone ready to roll up their sleeves. You won’t manage from a desk. You’ll be a constant presence on the floor, conducting walk-throughs, leading incident investigations, and delivering training. With no dedicated Safety Supervisors in place, you’ll personally carry out the full breadth of the work needed to keep every associate safe and every program audit-ready.

How you will achieve success:

  • Own the injury metrics. Take ownership of ORIR and LTI rates, keeping them at or below industry benchmarks for warehouse and e-fulfillment operations. You own the data, partner with Operations to identify root causes, and drive corrective and preventive actions to completion.
  • Run every recordable to ground. Document each OSHA recordable accurately, investigate it thoroughly, and close corrective actions on time, with Operations engaged throughout.
  • Keep safety training at 95%+. Partner with P&C to hold new hire and PIT training completion at or above 95% across all associates and departments, and make sure onboarding safety training is finished before any new hire’s first shift on the floor.
  • Audit monthly and show improvement. Conduct and score monthly safety audits, track open items to closure, and deliver quarter-over-quarter improvement in audit results.
  • Stay emergency-ready on every shift. Keep emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and first aid resources current and posted, and drill them regularly across all shifts.
  • Manage workers’ comp proactively. Report claims on time, use modified duty programs, and bring claim costs down.

What experiences will help you in this role:

  • 6+ years of safety or EHS experience in roles of progressive responsibility, ideally in an OSHA 1910 General Industry environment.
  • Regulatory depth. Formal or extensive regulatory experience, including ownership of OSHA 300 logs, complaint response, and onsite regulatory support.
  • Multi-shift support. Experience supporting multi-shift operations, including night and weekend shifts.
  • Hands-on technical skills. Direct experience conducting Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
  • Independent program ownership. Proven ability to own and execute integrated safety programs without Safety Supervisor support, carrying the management, the influence, and the execution on your own.
  • Floor-level presence. Comfort spending a significant portion of every shift on the warehouse floor, not behind a desk, and working onsite five days per week.

In an effort to Make Spreetail Better, we hire people that are aligned with our values and are passionate about pursuing ecommerce excellence. We believe the right person can learn what is needed to succeed in their role, so we encourage job applicants to apply even if you don't meet all the qualifications listed. We are looking for diverse backgrounds and perspectives, so we don’t require college degrees and welcome non-linear career paths. If this role highlights your experience and gets you excited – please apply!
