Original job description

Join an established industrial manufacturing leader in the greater Temple area dedicated to producing heavy-duty equipment in a collaborative, supportive shop setting. This full-time position offers dependable weekly pay and long-term career growth while operating computer numerical control cutting equipment. You will play a vital role in the production process by ensuring precise metal fabrication, careful material handling, and adherence to established safety standards.

Responsibilities:

Review work orders, engineering drawings, cut sheets, nesting layouts, bills of material, and job travelers before starting production, clarifying any discrepancies immediately.

Verify material grade, thickness, dimensions, quantity, and heat or lot identification prior to loading plates onto the cutting table.

Safely load, position, and unload plate and sheet material utilizing approved forklifts, overhead cranes, magnets, and plate clamps.

Select and verify computer numerical control (CNC) programs, confirming part orientation, nest layouts, quantities, kerf compensation, cut sequences, and material utilization.

Adjust and monitor cutting parameters including amperage, gas or air settings, torch height, pierce height, pierce delay, and travel speed based on material type and thickness.

Establish machine zero and reference points, verify torch clearances, and perform dry runs or path checks as required.

Conduct first-piece and in-process quality inspections using precision tools including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, squares, and gauges.

Verify part dimensions, hole sizes, hole locations, edge quality, bevel angles, dross levels, and tolerance conformance against technical drawings.

Identify, quarantine, and document nonconforming materials, halting production and notifying supervisors promptly when quality or equipment issues arise.

Remove, sort, count, label, and stage finished parts according to job specifications to ensure smooth handoffs to downstream assembly teams.

Working hours: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Skills:
