This role is responsible for maintaining operating systems, servers, automation, and supporting utilities across development, test, and production environments. The ideal candidate combines strong Solaris/UNIX administration, scripting, troubleshooting, and secure network experience.

Work Location: Hybrid, On-site, Arlington, VA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, monitor, and sustain Solaris/UNIX servers and supporting infrastructure for PeopleSoft HCM and associated Oracle-based environments in a secure, on-premises setting.
  • Install, configure, patch, harden, maintain, and troubleshoot operating systems, server components, utilities, and supporting services across development, test, and production environments.
  • Manage system performance, capacity, startup/shutdown services, logs, file systems, user accounts, permissions, scheduled jobs (cron), and environment configurations.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts and automation tools to streamline administration, batch processing, monitoring, deployment support, and operational efficiency.
  • Support system security, hardening, account administration, audit readiness, vulnerability remediation, and compliance with DISA STIGs or similar federal security requirements.
  • Troubleshoot incidents involving servers, network connectivity, middleware dependencies, storage, backups, batch schedules, and system interfaces; coordinate resolution across teams.
  • Support backup and recovery operations, contingency planning, patch cycles, change control processes, and environment readiness.
  • Collaborate with application, database, integration, cybersecurity, and operations teams to maintain a stable, secure, and reliable platform.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of UNIX/Solaris systems administration or infrastructure support experience.
  • Experience supporting PeopleSoft HCM or similar ERP environments preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with on-premises Solaris/UNIX administration, including OS configuration, patching, performance tuning, troubleshooting, file systems, services, user accounts, and job scheduling.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using shell scripting or similar tools.
  • Experience supporting Oracle-based platforms, middleware, secured networks, and operational support processes.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience working in secured federal or DoD environments preferred.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft HCM architecture, batch processing, interfaces, and Oracle ecosystem components in on-premises environments.
  • Experience supporting DISA-secured networks or similarly controlled federal/DoD environments, including system hardening and compliance.
  • Knowledge of runbooks, SOPs, change management, backup and recovery, incident management, problem management, and contingency operations.
  • Ability to collaborate across infrastructure, database, application, security, and network teams.
