Original job description

About Sparkfund

Sparkfund is the utility services company unlocking capacity on the grid. Through its Distributed Capacity Procurement (DCP) model, Sparkfund enables utilities, energy majors, and large-load customers to deploy front-of-the-meter batteries and gensets as distribution infrastructure. By adding targeted capacity exactly where and when the grid needs it most, DCP helps meet demand, support reliability, and put downward pressure on rates. Sparkfund supports program design, grid value assessment, asset host engagement, and value chain management to ensure on-time, on-budget deployment with maximum system value and lowest cost.

With more than 3,200 projects deployed across 43 states and more than 300MW of energized assets constructed, Sparkfund is transforming customer-sited assets into a valuable portfolio resource for the benefit of our society. To learn more about Sparkfund, visit sparkfund.com.

Integrated Marketing Manager

Location: Remote (U.S.-Based) Department: Marketing & Communications Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt Travel: Approximately 10–20%

About the Role

Sparkfund pioneered Distributed Capacity Procurement (DCP) and is working to establish distributed capacity as a new category for how utilities grow the grid. We’re looking for an Integrated Marketing Manager to help tell that story, turning our team’s expertise into content that shows up in the feed and on stage.

Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Communications and working closely with the Director of Creative & Marketing Strategy, this role builds and runs Sparkfund’s content and events programs and coordinates marketing across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels.

You’ll partner with technical experts and business leaders to activate and share their expertise across industry events, webinars, panels, white papers, blogs, and more, educating the market on distributed capacity and the DCP model.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer, a content expert, and an experienced integrated marketer who enjoys managing multiple initiatives and turning ideas into results.

As Sparkfund scales in the distributed capacity market, we’re expanding our thought leadership, with content and events as the foundation and room to grow from there.

How We Work at Sparkfund

Our values shape how we work, make decisions, and show up for our customers and each other. They are also part of how we evaluate success at Sparkfund.

Excellence

We hold ourselves to high standards and continuously look for ways to improve.

In this role, Excellence means producing thoughtful, accurate, and compelling content, delivering well-organized events, maintaining consistent brand standards, and continuously improving how we communicate with our audiences.

Stewardship

We take ownership, follow through on our commitments, and make thoughtful decisions with the long term in mind.

In this role, Stewardship means managing marketing resources, budgets, timelines, and relationships responsibly while ensuring our content and events create meaningful value for Sparkfund and its stakeholders.

Positivity

We approach challenges constructively, assume positive intent, support one another, and bring solutions.

In this role, Positivity means working collaboratively with subject matter experts, executives, and teammates, approaching competing priorities with flexibility, and bringing creativity and a solutions-oriented mindset to our work.

What You'll Do

Content Development & Thought Leadership

Execute Sparkfund's content strategy by developing engaging blogs, articles, white papers, case studies, infographics, talking points, and other marketing materials.
Partner with internal subject matter experts and executives to translate technical expertise into compelling thought leadership that educates the market on distributed capacity and Sparkfund's DCP model.
Develop presentations, briefing materials, speaker decks, and talking points for conferences, industry engagements, and media opportunities.
Create and maintain sales enablement materials, including program collateral, case studies, one-pagers, and proposal content supporting utility and large-load customer conversations.
Manage the content calendar and asset library, ensuring materials are accurate, on-brand, and delivered on schedule.
Publish and maintain website content while incorporating search engine optimization (SEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) practices.

Integrated Marketing & Events

Coordinate marketing execution across paid, earned, shared, and owned channels, including digital, website, social media, email, and public relations.
Manage Sparkfund's industry event presence, including conferences, sponsorships, speaking engagements, and related logistics.
Identify and pursue speaking opportunities for company leaders and subject matter experts, including conference sessions, panels, and industry presentations.
Coordinate speaker submissions, preparation, presentations, schedules, and on-site event support.
Maintain the company events and industry organization calendar, ensuring activities align with marketing priorities.
Manage event-related budgets, vendors, timelines, and deliverables.
Help transition agency-supported content and event activities in-house by establishing scalable processes and repeatable workflows.
Track and report on content and event performance, identifying opportunities to improve reach, engagement, and overall effectiveness.

Program Marketing & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with the Director of Creative & Marketing Strategy to develop and maintain program marketing materials that support customer and partner engagement.
Create and update program explainers, training presentations, co-branded materials, and prospect-facing collateral.
Coordinate with internal teams, freelance vendors, and external partners to manage content production, timelines, and reviews.
Ensure consistent messaging, brand alignment, and coordination across marketing initiatives.
Collaborate with Commercialization, Program Management, and other teams to ensure marketing activities support broader business objectives.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

4+ years of experience in integrated marketing, content marketing, multichannel marketing, or a related discipline.
Experience in B2B marketing, particularly with utilities, government organizations, or large enterprise customers.
Strong writing, editing, and content development skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, compelling messaging.
Experience coordinating marketing activities across multiple channels, including content, digital, social media, email, events, or public relations.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, stakeholders, and deadlines simultaneously.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with senior leaders, technical experts, and external partners.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing business needs in a remote environment.

Nice to Have

Agency experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
Experience in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure industries.
Experience developing thought leadership content with executives and technical subject matter experts.
Hands-on experience coordinating conferences, sponsorships, speaking engagements, and industry events.
Familiarity with HubSpot or similar marketing platforms and content management systems.
Experience with SEO, GEO, and digital content performance measurement.
Experience using AI-powered content development, marketing, or productivity tools.
Familiarity with grid modernization, utility resource planning, or distribution-grid technologies.

What Will Help You Succeed

Content Development & Storytelling

You know how to turn complex information into clear, engaging content that resonates with different audiences. You're comfortable interviewing subject matter experts, identifying the most important messages, and producing content that is both technically accurate and accessible.

Integrated Marketing Execution

You understand how content, events, digital channels, and campaigns work together. You can manage calendars, coordinate multiple initiatives, and ensure marketing activities are aligned, consistent, and delivered on time.

Event & Project Management

You're organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning events and projects from planning through execution. You anticipate needs, manage logistics, communicate proactively, and follow through on commitments.

Relationship Management & Collaboration

You build strong working relationships with executives, technical experts, colleagues, and external partners. You know how to bring people together, manage expectations, and keep projects moving without needing direct authority.

Ownership & Accountability

You're comfortable taking responsibility for your work, making day-to-day decisions, and identifying when additional input or guidance is needed. You take pride in delivering quality results and continuously improving processes.

Intellectual Curiosity & Adaptability

You're eager to learn, particularly when working with new technologies, industries, or complex subjects. You enjoy a growing organization where priorities evolve, new opportunities emerge, and you have the ability to help build better ways of working.

Compensation

The expected base salary range for this position is 107,000–137,200 annually, based on experience, qualifications, geographic considerations, and internal alignment.
