Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented General Cleaner to support operations at our facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The General Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment throughout office areas, laboratories, common spaces, restrooms, and other facility areas. This position plays a critical role in ensuring a high standard of cleanliness and supporting daily facility operations.

Essential Job Duties

• Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, conference rooms, offices, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste according to facility procedures.
• Clean windows, glass surfaces, doors, and partitions.
• Replenish restroom and break room supplies, including soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other consumables.
• Maintain cleanliness of entrances, lobbies, hallways, and stairwells.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or supply shortages to supervision.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, buffers, and other custodial tools safely and effectively.
• Adhere to all OSHA safety requirements.
• Support special cleaning projects and facility needs as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous commercial cleaning, custodial, housekeeping, or facility maintenance experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in a research and development environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and handle cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to work in various indoor facility environments.

Work Environment

• Research and development facility environment.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and cleaning equipment.
• May require evening, overnight, weekend, or holiday work depending on facility needs.
